No need to panic!

Post#1 » by klemen4 » Sat Apr 18, 2009 9:29 pm

Im not worried, nor very disappointed. After watching almost all season games I think tonight we had one of those off games and almost got away with a close win.

First positives:
-Great Doc substitution pattern, he really made no mistakes here
-Rondo can get under the basket anytime, great game
-Perkins,Baby and Powe were solid offensively, but have to step up on defense

Negatives:
- Team was passive in first half, no passion, no energy...its playoffs. We also had only 6 assists
- Allen and House shot 3-20 fg and 1-10 3pt...probably the worst shooting game this season from our sg duo and one of the best 3pt shooters in NBA
- No bench: More,Alen-horrible, Marbury to undecided, House totaly off

What to expect:
- No way Ray and Eddie shot this bad in 2009 playoffs
- We will step up on defense
- Pierce looks to take over the games

Im not concerned...ok this could go 7 games, but...I expect easy win in 2 game, splitting the 2 in Chicago--than who knows.

Chicago:
-Amazing, amazing, amazing game by Rose...watched him this year in a few games and he cant be stopped one on one
-Noah great on defense, amazing shooting by Thomas in OT, clutch Gordon in 4th

Of this 4 bulls only Gordon can play better...On the other side Salmons had a bad game, but him being injured I expect similar series from him. Also their bench will play better in next games.

Key:
-Limit Rose, take care of Gordon and let other guys shot.

Again, no need to panic...a long way to go!!!

I thought Doc's sub-pattern was NOT good....we needed the length from Moore in the 2nd half---but the didn't get off the bench...doesn't really matter though---if the C's come out with a PURPOSE and energy---they win this game EASILY.

Mikki is horrible. I was thrilled that he didn't play in the second half. But I was pissed that he got any PT in the first.

The main differences between last years championship team and this year's championship team.

Last year we had:
1.KG.- His scoring, rebounding, defense, play making, and leadership is gone.
2.Posey- His toughness, dirty play, outisde shooting, clutch shooting, experince, and ability to play the SF and PF positons and ability to defense 3 positions is gone.
3.P.J. Brown- His experince, rebouding, defense is better than Moore.
4.We were never down to any team in the series last year. This year, after the only 1 game, we are down 0-1.
5. Last year's team played with a purpose. It's too early to tell about this year' team.

This isn't last year's team. Not even close without KG and Posey. Combine that with Lebron improving his game and the addition of Mo Williams, the Cavs are a better teaam. Also, a healthy Trevor Ariza and Bynum makes the Lakers team a lot better too. Barring any injuries, it looks like Cavs vs Lakers.

Let's be grateful that we won it last year. Let's just enjoy this year's ride, win or lose.

IMO, the biggest negative from game 1 is that Rondo is trying to imitate Cassell. And that Rose and Rondo aren't on the same level. Rose is on his way to joining D-Williams and CP3 as the best PGs in the league and it was clear to me in game 1 that Rondo has a long way to go before even being mentioned in the same breath.

Rondo has to do what he does best, which is moving the ball and playing D. He was absolutely atrocious in both. If he thinks we're going to win by his beating Rose, he's dreaming. We're getting swept. We have to win by running the offense through Paul, not Rondo embarrassing himself trying to go one-on-one with Rose. The 2 players are not equal and with Rondo getting over his head trying to go against Rose, his strength suffered.

Doc needs to either have a shorter leash on Rondo for this BS or get KG to slap him around a bit. Because he was atrocious and was delusional in thinking that he can take on Rose.

Tombattor, Rondo is not the problem my man. The kid put up 29, 7 and 8. Rose has superstar talent and cannot be stopped by one player. You have to play good team defense against him. I would say team defense was the biggest thing lacking in Game 1. You calling out Rondo is just a completely inaccurate description of the problem.

He usually isn't, but in game 1, he was. If he tries to imitate Cassell by looking only for his shot, even if he scores a ton, no one else gets in the flow of the game. He was consistently late in finding the open man and by the time he found them, they were no longer open. And his D was atrocious. I understand why he chose to go under the screen every time, but he's got to at least run at Rose, instead of giving him an open 18-footer all night.

So it's Rondo's fault? You really hear everything on here.

He is not saying it is Rondo's fault. What I believe he is saying is that if Rondo scores a bunch of points and is looking for his shot he is not getting other people involved which disrupts the flow of the game.

I too would like tonight to see Rondo play more to Rondo's strengths....get more guys involved. More passing and make the extra pass.

Do you know how to read? It's not Rondo's fault that we lost, but he definitely contributed to the loss. I know you are probably blowing a load on Rondo's 29 points, but if you watch the game, you'll realize that Rondo was trying too hard to go one-on-one against Rose. If you take a lot of shots, then of course you're going to score a lot, but that's not his game nor is it his role. He has to get everyone involved and he did a terrible job of that. If we're going to put our playoff lives on Rondo beating Rose one-on-one, then we're in going to get swept because Rondo can't beat Rose one-on-one to save his life.
