Bill Walker as PF

Post#1 » by Bruiser » Tue Apr 21, 2009 9:21 am

Hey yo!

After Leon's injury Bill Walker seems the obvious choice to play some minutes as backup PF.
I don't think Doc will give the green light to Scal yet.
It´s at least a huge risk both for the player and the team.

I guess Davis will start and Paul will get some minutes at the PF as we go small . Something like Rondo, Marbs/Tony and Ray with KP and Paul. But Walker should get his chance.
I think he is a heady player and won't make mistakes and I like his attitude and his aggression.

Any thoughts? Kind regards.

I just hope Leon isn`t done for the season. We can`t survive with another big going down...

I think Scal will play in the next game. He was cleared for practice, so he might get some minutes in game 3 if everything goes well in the next couple of days...

If Scal can`t play Walker will get some minutes. When they play Thomas at the 4 we can get away with it, IMO.

I am just completely frightened by the fact that Moore will get more minutes. The guy is atrociously bad! When he is in the game we play 4 on 6...

We need height, height, height in the offseason. How good would someone like Theo Ratliff look right now coming off the bench?

Scalabrine and Moore are going to see more minutes, and Walker will rot on the bench.

Thanks Doc!

I haven't seen anything from Walker that has shown he's ready for a regular season minute let alone playoff.

Walker at PF might be just what the Celtics need (Energy & Toughness).

What has Mikki Moore ever done to show he's ready for any minutes of any kind?

At least Walker can grab a loose ball in traffic.

Am I the only one that is sick on doc not playing our bench more? I mean Pierce already looks done and Ray is playing a million minutes. At some point you have to have some trust that the bench. Yeah Moore is pretty bad so i'm cool with him not getting many minutes but how about Marbury, TA, Walker. I mean at the least they can give you more hustle and energy. Pierce wasnt even running back on defense with Perk.

come on now we have to give the bench extended minutes doc is going to run this team into the ground sooner or later. Don't get me wrong I am happy we won game two but in the long run this is brutal on Paul and Ray who are 30+ years old. I just think that Doc has to at least outwardly show more confidence in the bench. If the bench can give solid minutes and rest the starters it will help us over the course of the game.

Doc is doing the best he can but I would like to see TA and Pruitt get a few minutes for defensive purposes and Walker get some minutes for energy & toughness. I think Pruitt can do decent defensive job on Rose for 5-6 minutes per game. Play Pruitt on Rose and Marbury on Gordon for a few minutes. House can play with the first unit for a little while.

Call me crazy but I would get TA, Pruitt & Walker more involved.

Isn't Pierce the choice for power forward in a pinch or whenever Rivers goes small? I thought I'd read that Scalabrine might play in game four before the series began. Has that changed?

I'll like for Walker to play in this series too. If you're going to... This is the series to play Walker.

Is Walker a smart enough defender to pull off the defense on screens with Derrick? I haven't gotten to see him play this year, so I'm not sure what type of a player we're looking at here.

If I was Doc I would slide Pierce to the PF spot with Perk on the floor. On Ty Thomas who is much more comfortable in the high post than he is on the blocks Pierce can hold his own and will be able to execute the defensive rotations that are necessary out of the bigs. Then I would try either TA on Gordon or Walker on Salmons one on one and continue to send help to Ray.

At this point Salmons is 1-10 from 3pt land and while he has had a great season behind the line he isn't a great 3pt shooter for his career, he has taken more than a 3rd of his career attempts this season. I think Ray can keep him in front of him and out on the perimeter. Obviously the kid is due but he also may be in over his head a little at this point.

I think we need TA to get the ball out of Gordon's hands and he would also give Boston someone to attack him off the dribble on the defensive end and he doesn't want that at all.

That would allow you to go with Davis and Moore when Perk rests and just hope to hell that Moore doesn't kill us. Maybe mix in Walker to give Paul and Ray a blow, or hell just pick a fight.

Id be happy to throw Walker out there for 3-4 minutes a half at power forward, when they have tyrus at the 4.....

Without Leon, we have only 3 bigs... 2 of which are very foul prone

Bill might be undersized, but his energy and hustle will get him a few boards probably score once or twice and then he can sit back down.

Nothing to rely on, but just someone who can offer a couple of spot minutes to rest the other bigs and give us some energy

He might have been able to contribute by now if Doc had found 5 minutes a half to give him over 82 games.

But no, that's not Doc's way. Let's ride our over the hill gang into the ground so they're spent at playoff time.

I'd switch Paul to the 4 before I give Walker much time at this point

Walker can pull a Josh Smith for a few games depending on the match-up.
