It is so simple I hate it!!!

Remember the days of coming up with elaborate 2 or 3 years plans on how to make us a good team? Remember how much fun that was? Could we pair JO with PP to be legit? Would Camby ever come here? What could we get for Telfair or Gomes or Milt Fn Pilacio! Now Danny Ainge and Rajon Rondo have ruined that for us!
As much as we try, we can't really come up with any trades that make us notably better. Ainge has made us too good. And now it seems that Rondo has ruined our future era of fantasizing about rebuilding. All we will have to do is add MLE guys every year and Rondo will keep this team near the top for a very long time. How boring!
Even the Ray Allen has thwarted our plans to trade him as an expiring contract by bringing too much to the table for us to let him go.
I know I am not alone in this. For all our success I realize that I did miss being hopeless for a while. Its kind of like having a good job and a nice house and family and longing for the college days of eating romen noodles, drinking natty ice and sleeping in till 3pm.
Also, today is my birthday.

Happy birthday, Hem. That being said, I think yr nuts. I'd take this team over any of the Blount-infested messes I've seen in the last 23 years.

I'm not so sure Ray's such an easy decision--at least to keep.

Waiting, hoping for a young prospects to turn into a superstar in 3 years and leading a team out of mediocrity is no fun...there is nothing better than going into a season knowing your team has a realistic chance of winning a ring...
Also in the last 2 years we haven`t had much reason or chance to come up with fun trades but with all the expiring contracts that will change next season...

I was always the old fights with Pete about West vs Banks, but that's about it...so I agree with you, Hemm, it's kinda nice to see a decent future with this bunch.
I don't miss the likes of Raef, Walta and Blount (or the latter day 'Toine for that matter.)
Serious matter, if Leon's injury wrecks his short-lived career, we're in desperate need of a bench.

Happy Birthday!
I agree with you, there is a lot less to talk about these days. We're so good, that all we will do over the next few years is tweak the bench and stay away from any major changes.
I do find the trade RA trades pretty funny though.
It sort of parallels why one of the most dangerous stretches of highway in Florida is a flat, straight line, with very few exits for 100+ miles. People get bored and seem to lose it, they just can't sit back and enjoy the ride.

It makes you wonder if "we" should go another year with the same team or move both PP and RA this summer.

Not really. And this isn't tied to last night.....
Question 1: Is this team good enough to compete for the title next year with the big3 being a year older?
Q2: If the answer to Q1 is no, would you rather ride this team into the sunset just being competitive, or retool now.
Q3: Keeping Rondo, BBD, KG, Perk - can we get enough by moving both PP and Ray to make a comparable competitive team with more future upside?

^If we move PP and KG, we are going to be a 35 win team, tops...
The trick is to try to bring in/draft new young talent as the Big 3 get older...

Considering the amount of time KG was out in the regular season, and we still ended up with the third best record in the league, as well as the fact that we were tearing it up before KG went down says alot about how good this team really is. This team can dominate with a healthy KG. One more year isn't going to change that too much.
I am firm believer in not dissaembling a team ala Jerry Krause. Instead adding young talent as you go. Rondo has improved tremendously and is a future all star. If we could bring in another talent like that, we would be able to transition pretty well. The way the salaries are set up with Ray and Rondo, it only makes sense for the Celts to let Ray expire and resign him to a $8 to $10 Mil /yr deal and give us room to sign Rondo at or near the max he will demand. It would save the Celts over $10 Mil a year instead of trading him for a similar salary (needed to make the trade work) and a longer contract. I don't see them taking on Knicks payroll in this eceonomy.
If the big three can stay healthy, it ain't over.

Will we be seeing more teams looking to sell draft picks in this economy?
