So we're making up rules as we go?

Post#1 » by Skwar_wars » Sun May 3, 2009 3:19 am

Did the league change the replay rules during half time? Are we now allowed to change calls made during the middle of the game. How else to explain the extra point Chicago got in the 4th quarter. Someone needs to answer for that.

Yes, it was an obviously bad call, but so were about ten other calls. (Paul Pierce fouling Heinrich from 3 feet away?). The rules don't allow what happened.

Moreover if they're going to change the call and add a point it should have been done right after the half, not in the middle of the frickin' fourt quarter. That's a joke. WTF?

Only when it is to the disadvantage of the Celtics.

They DID give them the point at half time. Then took it away in the middle of 3rd. Then gave it back in the start of the 4th. Apparently, the Bulls were upset about the point, and were talking to the refs about it at halftime.

There was no reason for them not to have changed the call immediately, that official crew was bad in a unique way they were actually incompetent overmatched by the magnitude of the moment, not simply making bad calls but clearly bad at their job. I think the main office stepped in and chance the score the rules do allow it it is supposed to happen as soon as you see that the guy is standing 3ft behind the line.

The Pierce foul was awful, as was the Perk/Miller double tech, especially after they let Noah throw Rondo to the ground with no call. I thought the game was better than the refs but damn this has got to end. You should never have to go through a series with no Jack Neis.

I'm glad they gave them the point for the sole reason that this place would have been flooded with crying Bulls fans even though they lost by 10. I like most of the Chicago board but they were whining so much about Rondo slinging Kirk onto that scorer's table (they even called a T1 on Rondo!) that I'd hate to think about what would happen if the league robbed them of a point. I have no problem with them getting a point they actually scored, I'd prefer it happened when it occured though ;).

Who cares, we won and it was a 3 so they should get 3 points. If that happened to us we would cry about it too.

It wasn't even close -- at least a foot behind the line. I guess Steve Javie was too busy putting his head up his a-- to notice? I have no problem with it being corrected, even if it didn't reach the scoreboard until late.

Can you imagine if the Bulls lost the game by one point and the correction was never made? We'd never hear the end of it.

They can correct that an hour later but can't erase a bucket scored with 6 guys on the floor at the moment it happens...

You beat me to it. If someone was going to make a presentation about terrible officiating that is the play to show.

I'm glad it happened. It had no effect on the game, and no one should be able to say anything about the C's getting benefits from the league of any kind.

You've never seen it happen? I've seen it happen against the Bulls multiple times. That's on your scorekeeper, and for some reason they kept adding and removing it when it wasn't even a questionable 3. Next time don't try to mess with the opposing team's head

No it isn't on the scorekeeper the refs did not signal a 3, Javie looked at the replay and chose not to change it isn't up to the scorekeeper to determine anything.

 absolutely. Always has been this way, always will. 6 men on the floor vs Portland...any other team and those points/possession would have been taken away...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

I am sorry. But whining about how the league is out to get us is a little tired. I have seen us be on the winning side of plenty of bad calls too. The league's officiating is just bad overall.

Eh, I don't care what the rule is, if a the scorekeeper fails to give a team a point the point should be added back on no matter when it is in the game, even if its the last play.

I was as confused as Tommy was, though...why was it still even in the referees' minds to think to look at it again??

Also that T on Perk when Miller hacked at him was **** horrendous...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!
