What do you want to see from the Celtics in the next series?

Post#1 » by aSizzLe » Sun May 3, 2009 3:22 am

- Rondo needs to play clean to make up for the first round
- Pierce needs to take better shots
- Kendrick Perkins needs to contain Dwight

And good game Bulls and Bulls fans. Great series.

Defense!

That is the only thing I want to see! For us to play defense like we did in second half of the second quarter and in game 3. If we do that we have a chance!

Defense and bench. You know our starting 5 will show up every night. But bench and defense is key.

And of course..one thing I DO NOT want to see is OT's...no **** way man...

Starters need to get the bench players involved and get House going like he did tonight.

Need to push the ball and get Howard into foul trouble.

No more injuries. Please!

And what I would like to see is KG return!

Victories in the first two games. :)

After that the exhaustion from lots of OTs will be pretty irrelevant.

I also want to see Perk and Davis on the floor, rather than on the bench with foul trouble.

I wanna see the bench continue to improve. And i also wanna see the Rondo from games 1-5, not the Rondo from games 6 and 7. I hope that the Rondo from games 6-7 never rears his ugly head again. I felt like killing that kid tonight.

Just keep it close until the end. One of the main problems for Orlando is that they don't really have late game closers with Jameer down. He was their big shot taker. Now, it comes down to Hedo taking pullup 3's, which he will make once in a while.

I'd also like to see the bench do more. The bench would let leads slip or go down by even more points all the way up until game 7. Still like to see Steph get it going, Eddie hitting shots, and Scal being our all around player. Also, Mikki could still help.

I think Courtney Lee is down, so our guards are a lot better than theirs. its basically Skip to my Lou, Anthony Johnson, Redick, and uhhhh....wow, not a good guard lineup at all.

Start Scal!
Or atleast give him extended minutes against Lewis in the first game to see how he handles em, he usually does pretty well against plyers with that style of play. If it works it will help tremendously with our big-off-the-bench problem, letting Davis and Perk(though Perk usually does decent) split time going against Howard.

1.) We need to play better team defense than we did against the Bulls.

Except for game 3, and some stretches here and there, we did not play Celtics ball. If we play better more consistent defense throughout the series, we will get by Orlando and go to the ECF.

Key to this will be the play of our bigs, and them staying out of foul trouble.

2.) PP

Paul is our main man, and needs to play a notch better in this series than he did against the Bulls. It's been tough watching him isolate from the top of the key all series against Chicago. Instead of cringing, I'd like to have more confidence he will score or find the open man. I don't know what it is exactly, but he just seemed to be playing a step slow to me against the Bulls.

I expect PP will step up and have a great series. If he doesn't, we might be in for another long emotional draining set of games.

3.) Late game execution

I do not want to see TA, Scal, or anyone on the bench taking critical shots late in these playoff games. You gotta go to what got us here. Unless you are wide open, pass the damn ball.

Look for the hot hand. If any of our starters are hot, keep going to them until the opposing team stops them. Don't try to overthink and use them as a decoy (Ray in game 6). Instead, use a different set or whatever to diguise the play, but make absolutely sure they are the ones who get the ball and decide the outcome.

Hit our foul shots!!!

Play defense with a vengence. See item # 1 above.

Scal needs to start so that Davis and Perk can be used for the full 48 to guard Howard.

Marbury needs to be used like he was in game 7. As the backup PG, NOT the 6th man.

Perkins and Davis need to avoid cheap fouls.

Ray Allen needs to have a monster series.

Doc needs to not listen to my advice regarding Eddie House... I couldn't have been more wrong about him pre- game 7.

And as mentioned, keep the games close and hope that our closers can outdo their closers

Less dribbling and "hero ball" from Pierce.

More clear-outs for Rondo.

DEFENCE !! and no 3pts shots!!

Orlando gets 30% of their score from shooting 3s. They live and die by the 3.

Return to Boston Celtics
