I just looked at the Celtics playoff stats through 6 games. Pierce, Ray Allen, Rondo, House, and Marbury actually all turn out to have roughly similar rates of FG attempts, in the range of 1 per 2 1/2 minutes played (i.e., 40% of minutes played).

Game to game guys can be below that (Rondo was way below Game 7, and House somewhat below as well), but basically my point holds -- Marbury has been shooting at approximately the same rate as the Celtics' other perimeter players.

Front court guys -- even Davis -- have been shooting less.

Fact is Marbury is passing up on a lot of open looks ... and I don't blame him now, because he simply cannot knock down a jumper. He misses and misses. Very disappointing, because we brought him to score, but he has not produced AT ALL.

He needs to get to the rim. That was always his strength. The problem is he just doesn`t have the quickness he had a couple of years ago...

But I do like the ball movement when he is in the game...

In the Chicago series his FG shooting was 7-30 -- 2-5 on 3s, 5-25 on 2s. Ouch.

I was a supporter of the Marbury move when it first happened, but to be honest Pruitt was working better within the offense, he knew exactly when to shoot and when to give the ball up. Im not saying Pruitt should take Marbury's minutes yet, but he needs to start producing again.

Hopefully against Orlando Marbury and House can gel like they did towards the end of the season. He needs to be able to make the mid range shot though, teams are starting to drop off him like they do to Rondo....the complete opposite of why we brought him here.

Don't sell Marbury down the river just yet - I have a feeling the NYC PG match up will spark his aggressive tendencies.

All this talk about age and "losing it" seems to be without foundation - when Marbury has looked to attack and gone off instinct he's been the same player I remember him being.

I think 99% of his struggles are mental right now - he doesn't know when to take shots or where to take them and he's thinking too much. He needs to just be given the greenlight to shoot every time he wants and then adjust from there.

Doc can tell him when to do what from that standpoint, but it would be far easier to reign him in than to pump him up - its our faults really - the media and fanbase have been so tough on Steph over the last couple of years he is hell-bent on redemption instead of playing his game.

Look for Marbury to get more PT this series and to boost his production...

Marbury's not used to playing so little and seems he puts extra pressure on himself to knock down shots when he does take them...

I take a small satisfaction knowing he won't be put into the Celtics lore as a champion but just a drive by.

Marbury gave us quality minutes against the Bulls, particularly in game seven.

That's what he is there for, and he is starting to look better the deeper the play offs go.

It's great to have a pg who can come in, bring the ball up and distribute it with confidence. Would you prefer Pruitt (really, really untested) or ....*gag* ..Tony Allen?

Marbury is handling his role efficiently and doing everything correctly, but more people are expecting him to go above and beyond what Doc is expecting him to do and become Starbury. That's what I want to happen as well. Let's hope he gets more PT this series and scores A LOT more and steps it up. We'll be needing it.
