The time is right to trade Rondo

And here's why (in no particular order)...

1. After the Bulls series, his stock is as high as ever.

2. After the Bulls series, his looming contract extension becomes that much more difficult.

3. As the roster is currently constructed, we would need to re-sign Rondo, re-sign an aging Ray and significantly upgrade our bench to even remain competitive. Nevermind, contending for a championship. There are salary problems on the horizon if we're locked into the current roster.

4. Al Jefferson. We've seen what parting with a beloved baby can get you...a championship banner.

5. The aging Big 3. Lets face reality, 2009-10 is the last chance for this group to win a championship together. Age is advancing, injuries are adding up and we're starting to see glimpses of all three showing their age. The time to make tough decisions is approaching.

6. The free agent class of 2010. As things currently stand, we won't be a factor in the 2010 free agent market. That's okay if we're winning championships, but if not 2010 is a rare chance to get a franchise player. If Wade eventually opts against signing with Miami, would Miami consider Allen/Rondo for Wade/Salary Filler?

Whaa? Just like with Ray, who are you going to trade him for? Deron Williams, Derek Rose, or Chris Paul?

If you think it's the right time to trade Rondo I assume you have some doable trades in mind.

Rondo/Ray's expiring contract for someone like Wade (if he opts to not re-sign with Miami). It's not necessary that we get an all-star PG (or any PG) in return. In fact, the list of PG's with championship rings in the last couple decades isn't particularly impressive.

Putting together a package for Lebron James or D-Wade does make sense.

Trading LeBron or Wade makes sense for Cleveland and Miami. Its the easiest way to get rid of all those pesky fans who keep throwing money at the franchises. In these tough economic times, the Heat and Cavaliers would be doing their cities a service by removing any desire for people to spend money on nonessentials like basketball tickets.

Plus, these owners are billionaires. They can take the financial hits. And they can certainly afford the security required to protect them from flaming bags of s**t thrown at their cars/houses/self. All for the greater good. Greater good. Its like 'Hot Fuzz' NBA style.

Unless Ainge can trade with the team that wins this year's lottery, or the team who's runner-up, to select Rubio. Why trade Rondo?

Let's just waive Rondo. I want my Aprils, Mays and Junes back. It was great from 1993-2007 when I didn't waste time watching the Cs in the playoffs. I could commune with nature. So, yeah, dump Rondo. Otherwise I may be stuck watching the Cs play basketball into May and June for the next decade. Bummer, man.

If we are lucky the Lakers will sign him. It must kill those beach freaks to spend so much time inside in May and June. Ha Ha Ha.The Fakers are a bunch of wankers.

JR Hawks is a frigging clown. He has told us to trade Pierce and Ray before. Now Rondo...the man doesn't add ANYTHING to this board. He should be suspended for being pathetic.

You don't trade Rondo for a unproven rookie foreigner either.

Hows bout a big hells no on that idea? We have a talented young pg in Rondo and a talented young center in Perk. Good pgs and good centers don't grow on trees, you got to hang on to them and build around them, unless someone blows you away with an offer which isn't likely to happen. Hanging onto these guys is the key to transitioning beyond the big 3.

Well Rondo has moved up in status - much like Pierce he is starting to be talked about as a great player you need to trade. LMAO.

Listen you find a great player that fits what you want to do - you keep him. I'd say the only exception is like with KG - when you have some amazing move available to upgrade your team. Rondo is not a guy you LOOK to trade. The premise of this thread is off.

Hey there kids, my name is Tommy Heinsohn, and if you think trading Rondo and Ray Allen for Chris Bosh is a good idea, you know nothing about basketball.
