Id consider Chris Bosh if he would sign a new deal with us. TOR would prob do it because it doesnt look like Bosh wants to be in TOR but would KG either?

Guys, KG is going to retire a Celtic, I guarantee it. He won a title here and competed at a higher level than at any other point in his career. He was loyal to Minny, to a fault...he loves Bill Russell...don't count on him going anywhere!

The point was that Boston would be hard pressed to get a young superstar for him. KG is definitely a top ten player in the league. That's not all there is to it, though. You have to factor in age (33 next season), mileage (14th season), the fact that he missed almost half the season and possibly all of the postseason and that he'll be averaging 19 mil for the next 3 years.

This has to be a joke.

No one's taking three years at almost $20 million for a 33 year old with major knee problems. We don't even know if he'll EVER be able to play normal minutes again for a season. It's scary, but we really have no clue how much his body has left. He had a strain that should've been healed in about a month. He still can't play. We couldn't get an expiring for him, much less one of the better players in the league.

That's why I don't get the pleas for KG to play in the playoffs. This year's playoffs are insignificant compared to having him healthy for the next three years. If his knee problems are just normal, irreversible aging...his contract will kill our chances to improve or contend.

^No kidding....is risking permanent damage to KG worth making it to the ECF this year?? When we could still contend another 2-3 seasons with a healthy KG?

Who is talking about his injury here. I know what he has. But maybe there are some DESPERATE teams that need a player quick to put them over the top. He already put us on top. I'd rather compete for the 'ship for the next 5 yrs then just get another ring with KG's help.

This is the same trap the "trade Ray" contingent falls into...just who is this mythical perennial All-Star who will be 10 yrs younger than KG and no drop-off whatsoever in quality that another team is willing to trade straight-up for an aging, highly paid HOFer?

You know what's funny. When we almost lost to Chicago, I was banned because I was bashing the team, and not taunting members like a certain mod said. Anyways, I saw many of you POSITIVE POSTERS bashing the hell out of Celtics, our players , and more. I have a proof to prove it. As soon as we win one game, everyone settles down and thinks we can take over the world, relax and listen to what I'm trying to say.

Like someone mentioned, KG might NEVER be the same again. He is getting paid a lot of money to sit on the bench. Yes he helped us win the ring, but we didn't rent him just for one year. He is getting his money, big money!. If he cannot perform to his usual potential then I GUARANTEE YOU we will have you, kefa and other optimistic people saying how Danny ainge made a mistake by giving a 33yerold this much money, with tons of mileage and broken knees.

It won't be a mistake by getting a guy who got you a ring then gets hurt trying to get you 2. It's nobody's fault.....I think the injury is a minor one but comes at a bad time but KG will be ready for season # 3. If not well, we do what we have to do. Until then we are stuck with him until he heals and we work with what we have......this is not Danny's fault.

We could start Wade at point and run with Wade, Ray, Pierce, Powe(or FA), Perkins....I don't know how good that would be..but we would have a superstar SG for years to come so I'd take it. Doubt Miami does it..but it's worth a try.

Miami isn't trading Wade, unless maybe they were sure he wasn't going to resign.

Kevin Garnett will be back to 100% of his top 5, MVP caliber, two-way play next season - of this I have no doubts.

The man has never been injured in his life and he currently has a relatively minor procedure scheduled for after the playoffs. Even if it was total knee reconstruction, the rehab and recovery rates are over 90% successful with the player coming back stronger than ever.

I know he is 33 and he has mileage, but until someone comes up with a conclusive study pointing to minutes played and significant decline in productivity and health, all that talk is just nonsense spurred on by fear and a need to find some type of answer.

What is known is that superstar players tend to age very, very well if they fit a couple basic criteria:

1. They are multi-faceted and/or excellent in one particular area of the game
2. They keep themselves in tip-top condition and take care of their bodies through diet and exercise.
3. They do not suffer a debilitating injury that becomes chronic or that drastically reduces their effectiveness on the court.

Out of those three things, KG has a small % chance of falling into the 3rd category - but it is unlikely and far from fact. Barring that minimal likelihood of occurrence, Garnett - like Ray Allen - is a prime candidate to maintain an extremely high level of performance deep into his 30's.

Based off his combination of offense and defense as well as his supreme length and mobility for his position, i'd estimate that KG could very well be the starting PF for this Celtics team for ANOTHER 3 years after his contract, ala Karl Malone.

While his scoring and rebounding may decrease, his ability to hit jumpers, play the pick-and-roll, and assist others will remain pretty much exactly where they are now. His help defense and recovery defense on-ball should also remain at a high enough level to not be a determent to the team.

What he's likely to lose is his quickness in the post - he will probably be much more of a spot-up/clean-up/P&R guy - which is fine considering his aging will coincide with Rondo's rise to stardom and Perkins continued offensive improvement in the paint.

The most likely candidates for trade are going to be Pierce and Allen - which may or may not happen depending on a number of factors. But wings are eminently easier to replace than big men and top 5 all time PF's do not grow on trees.

We've already seen what a difference KG makes to this team even in a season where his statistical contributions were pedestrian by his standards. His understanding of the game and ability to captain the rest of the team on-court while contributing in a multitude of areas simply will not be replaced in any trade scenario.

Whatever they could get for KG is of little consequence - he will be here for a long time and he will be productive for a long time --- don't let the long Celtics 22 year run of ineptitude cloud your understanding of greatness and the reality of injuries....this is no swan song, as Red would say...

What good does it to "prove" some of us were pissed? Just because we get pissed doesn't mean we are positive. I think there's a big difference between being pissed at some bad performances vs predicting incessantly from March onward that this team sucks and won't do anything in the playoffs...
