I'm happy for him but feel he should have made the First team. There's no way Paul should have made it ahead of him.

Great kudos for the kid. Definitely should have been first team over Chris Paul but CP3 is a superstart and Rondo isn't quite there yet. I'm sure he'll make first team next year.

Perk not being on either first or second team is a travesty. He's the best defensive center in the game IMO when you consider both man and help defense.

Even if you don't think rondo should be 1st team there is no way in hell Paul is a first team defender.

I thought Paul Pierce should have been 2nd team and Ron Artest AND Shane Battier should have made first team.

Chris Paul
Kobe
LeBron

these guys should either be 2nd team or on neither 1st or 2nd.

I didnt think Garnett should have been on the team either only because he missed alot of games other than that he should be on it. But I guess it doesnt matter how many games you play so Im okay with it.

So who else heard Chris Webber talk about Rondo during game 1 vs. the magic about how Rondo is a "terrible" defender.

Sometimes those dudes are so wack they have no idea what they are talking about.

Paul gets the steals.........and that gets the votes. Kobe Bryant is overrated defensively, there are much better defenders at the SG position. Defense aside, that would be a damn awesome team, Paul, Kobe, Lebron, KG, and Howard. Second team is none too shabby either, but I don't like Ron-Ron at PF.

same appliees to rondo, though. His defense is essentially "let your man blow by you so you can poke at the ball"

Magic fan here, when I heard that I was like what?!! Defense is what Rondo is best at, sometimes I wonder if these guys even watch games or just highlights.

I'm not surprised... Rondo got some votes last season but came up short.

I find it interesting that Webber commented on defense at all. He wasn't much of a defender himself, from what I recall.

The key thing about Rondo is that he made 19 ballots out of the 29 coaches who could actually vote for him, which is very impressive. That means that he won over some of the Western Conference coaches, even though they hardly ever see him.

I thought that the magic game was an excellent example of Rondo's freakish defense, and the effect that it has on a game when he "turns it on". It wasn't as if Rafer was doing anything to begin with, but when Rajon decided to just attack Alston and Johnson like a couple of little kids, they both lost their composure.

The dude just gets into everyone's business out there. Hands in passing lanes, unreal full court pressure, tremendous rebounding skills, can challange anyone's shot on the perimeter, extremely difficult to attack on mismatches, etc. There are a lot of things out there that are not "fundamentals" of the game, because one thing about fundamentals is that they are things which can be taught to anyone. Rondo does some stuff out there that ONLY Rondo can do out of his position. People miss that.

You would never teach a young boxer to box like Ali, because hanging your hands down around your waist is a recipe for getting your block knocked off. It worked for Ali because of his insane anticipation and reflexes, not to mention a jaw that could absorb the odd one that got through.

When Van Gundy was asked why we almost came back, he had a one word response. "Rondo"

Good for Rondo, but, I think it's insane that Perkins didn't receive a SINGLE vote. Wow. I mean Andre Miller, Nocioni, Baron Davis, Caron Butler, Josh Howard and Rip Hamilton all receive votes for defensive play (funny) and Perk not a single one??? Baffling.

For some reason I figured Webber had stopped dogging Rondo, but I got him mixed up with Gary Payton instead (which really only happened once KG called him out on the air for being the raging moron he was). I agree Rondo's defense is a tease at this point, but even with that said he's the best defender at his position which is REALLY scary. Once he puts a higher emphasis on staying in front of his man -- which he could do if he really focused on it -- he's going to be much, much better.

Even though Rondo was generally awful in game 1, it was nice to see him really turn it on in the third quarter. I've always felt Rondo had another gear but that was really the first time I have ever seen him really really play hard on defense.
