Victory Cigar Game 2 Magic 5/6/2009

Post#1 » by Fencer reregistered » Thu May 7, 2009 3:31 am

I'm too tired/lazy/busy to post stats, but I think it's time for a poll:

Who deserves the Victory Cigar for the must-win Game 2 vs. the Magic?

To me, there are only three candidates:

Eddie House had awesome scoring stats, and played a solid all-around game as well

Kendrick Perkins, by some margin, flat-out outplayed Dwight Howard, Orlando's best player and one of the top players in the league

Rajon Rondo stirred the drink, crushed the ice, twirled the cocktail shaker, and talked the two hottest girls at the bar into entering the wet T-shirt contest

I give it to Rondo because he was far ahead of Perk and Eddie in +/-

Eddie was AMAZING... but the game was already over for most of that. Rondo gets my vote. He is something else.

Eddie House. 31 is too much to overlook. We needed a blowout, he chipped in big.

I have no problem with Eddie getting it, and it was a tough choice, but I had to go with rondo. Eddie had stellar game and the quote of the night, but rondo was in total beast mode.

House would have deserved it on another night, but IMO Rondo has to take it. Eddie was solid all around and hit a number of shots and provoked Rafer Alston. Rondo led the offense, subtly played what was probably an important role on D, pulled down 11 boards to make up for Baby/Scal's lack of boards, didn't turn the ball over until the game was in our hands and he was tired, and in the process tied Larry Bird for a Celtics postseason record just 9 games into the postseason (not to mention he put an early but nice exclamation point on the victory with an overpowering dunk over D12).

House shoots 40% they still win IMO
Rondo doesn't dominate, they don't.

i went with perk, his defense on Howard right from the jump prevented Orlando from getting anything resembling an offense going all night, and made Howard look quite pedestrian on the offensive end in the process

House was phenomenal, Rondo was great minus the horrible shot selection but I am going with Perkins. His defense on Howard was brilliant, I think he really set the tone for our win with his game on both ends of the floor!

Tough one for this game. Both Rondo and House were huge.

I went with House because I think it's very important our bench provides a big spark and we desperately need some scoring off the bench, and that's exactly what House did.

I LOVE Rondo as much as anyone, but isn't it safe to say a triple-double for him shouldn't be extraordinary now??? Wasn't this his 4th one of these playoffs? The kid is a beast.

But IMO, you can't overlook 31 points on efficient shooting like that. He pretty much WAS our offense this game. If he's not hittin the way he was, how do we know we would've kept a lead on them? Anytime they'd cut it down to 15 or 16 late, Eddie would hit a back-breaking shot time after time...time after time....time after time....

As much as I'd love to give it to Eddie, the cigar must go to Rondo...he was sick last night, a triple-double almost by halftime? :o
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

I would have to say eddie. He opened up the whole offense for us. Rondo pushed the ball and eddie made the shots. I don't remember eddie even hitting the rim on all his makes. Just a great shotting performance.
