Didn't Houston upset Magic and the Lakers? And then we wiped them up for the banner? And we had to go through Doc J and the Sixers to get there?

Unfortunate differences: We are injury-depleted and do not have KG, and if somehow, Houston beats the Fakers, we have to finish up with the Magic (will happen in 6), and deal with the King (who is wiping everyone up).

I thought of the same thing.

Houston beat the unbeatable Lakers twice in the 80's.

Yep, in '81 and '86...the Lakers got fat and happy and lazy...what was especially disgraceful was that the '81 Rockets were 40-42...

I see the current Lakers acting like this more than the Cavs...

Rockets need to win both at home if they want any smell of the finals.

Yep...LA going home tied at 2 or up 3-1 with ref help=WCF...

The standard green-hued interpretation of the '86 Lakers is they were scared or resigned to defeat in the finals, so they bowed out early.

It's kind of weak and cowardly of me but if there's no way KG comes back, I'd kind of rather let Cleveland move on and beat LA. Of course, if we could beat Cleveland, we could beat LA. I can hardly imagine KG sitting out the finals if we somehow made it, let alone the ECF.

Man I love drawing parallels to seasons from the '80s like this. My comparison of choice is '89 when Bird's ankles were like KG's knee. But we've already held up much better than McHale/Parish/Lewis did. I guess signing Mikki Moore was the equivalent of trading Ainge.

I don't understand this. Are you saying you want the Celtics to lose to Orlando or Cleveland? Why? As you yourself said, if we can beat Cleveland, we can beat LA. I wish KG was playing, but his absence makes every victory that much sweeter. Have some faith or at least get behind your team - the underdog. This is Boston, after all.
