Draft Talk - Who would you trade in for?

Time for a little draft talk. Just looking at the mock drafts and who is slotted to go where and the fact that 5 teams have multiple picks and one of them has 3 and all but one fall in the last 7 of the first round it certainly is a possibility to swap a future 1st to get into the first round.
Who is that guy for you?
Guys who I would jump on if they slide are Tyreke Evans and either guy from Louisville, Clark or Willams, but I don't think it will happen.
I really like Wayne Ellington and Sam Young I think they could be stars in the NBA, but the one guy I might trade in there for question marks and all is Austin Daye.

We don't need any more babies. Pruitt, Giddens and Walker are already wasting plenty of roster space.
Let's focus on getting some vet help for KG instead.

I disagree. I think we need to start getting some pieces together for the future - our age shows too much at times. I think Pruitt is probably on his final legs, but Walker received some good reviews early on. I'd buy whatever we can get - I trust Danny with the draft.

We need athleticism, period, and we need assurance that they're going to develop alongside our *rotation* players, not in slipshod Scal/TA/House/Davis/Marbury combinations. You're seeing what's happening right now; we're basically fielding the same vets from last year with no new pieces alongside them to add another dimension to our offense or defense.

Again, this is not in reaction to tonight game, but I'd move both Ray and Paul, for a big guys and picks. Let Walker and Giddens have a large chance of proving themselves next year. WE HAVE TO GET A BACKUP CENTER.
Screw the draft.

you trade Ray and Paul and you will probally be asking for Danny's head on a platter when we are winning 30 games. Who are these big guys you speak of? Bosh? nope. Amare? nope Big Al? ...nope.Dwight Howard? keep dreaming. No one is trading those guys for Ray or Paul and I can't really think of any other quality big guys I'd want to trade for right now.

We got athleticism in last year's draft...Giddens and Walker. Didn't work out so well.

Danny is not going to ride these players into the sunset like we did with Bird Parish and McHale. These guys are too old to carry a team anymore and injuries are inevitable. I love what DA did and I appreciate #17, but this group is not getting #18. If Rondo is going to be the leader of this team (and it sure looks that way), he needs wing players that can run with him - not a couple of Wallys.

Im not rooting for Ray to be traded but he is an expiring contract and alot of teams may like to have that(Im looking at you New Orleans) Pierce on the other hand will retire a Celtic.

The C's need vet help with regards to length and athleticism. Hakkim Warrick, Sheed etc. You might not find everything in ONE player.
Alot of people like to gripe about building for the future..but the C's need to be in win now mold. You can tackle the future when you decide to start to rebuild. The fact that you need to be more athletic doesn't mean you should bury the roster with athletic prospects who can't help the team.
I think the C's are likely looking for a big athletic backup 3/4. Lots of guys fit the bill - but basically your looking for a backup to PP that would allow him more rest and Doc more flexibility. The are looking for a 4/5 with some length and athleticism. If they keep Marbury they are likely set at the backup PG spot - if not that's a need too.
I think the wages of win has it right. The C's basic problem is that they have some very poor NBA players in the rotation. With an infusion of talent you push those players back into "depth" spots and out of your core rotation. Then you will win more basketball games and your stars will look like better players..
The year after that - the dismantling rebuilding will begin with a huge free agent pool and Ray Allen contract ending.. Probably if DA wants to avoid the big 3 fate he should tear down the team then.. That being said its easier said then done..
But long story short - I doubt the C's are doing much of anything in the draft..

Ray is a pretty unique expiring contract because he's a good player though. Teams would love to dump salary and get him back - but if the player teams are dumping are as good as Ray...they probably wouldn't be getting their salary dumped.
Unless you can get a CRAZY salary dump like Gasol or David West, you can't do it IMO.

I just want length. At any position.
I am still disappointed Danny didn`t draft Deandre Jordan. He would be a nice center project. Instead we went with POB who is just horrible. Jordan already showed more in his rookie season...

Man, has losing for 22 years put your head that far up your ass?
Seriously - hate to be harsh, but the team is missing KEVIN GARNETT - a top 10 player in the NBA. This team is entirely built on the three main players playing together - the rest of the roster was constructed to support them, not supplant them yet - only Perkins and Rondo are on a level where they can consistently bring more night in and night out.
This team is healthy next year, this team will contend for the title - i'm sure Ainge will add some vet firepower and may trade into the draft, but the statement above is STUPID NONSENSE born out of emotion and masked as logic.
If Pierce hadn't played 40+ minutes a game since February, he'd have more left - if the team had ANY legit post game right now, they'd be playing much better - and if KG and Powe were healthy the interior defense would be much stronger.
Chalking all this up to "age" is massively simplistic and inaccurate, sorry....step away from the ledge...

I really like Wayne Ellington and Sam Young I think they could be stars in the NBA, but the one guy I might trade in there for question marks and all is Austin Daye.
- Evans has massive shooting deficiencies and a super-sized ego in an undersized body - looks like a Tony Allen wannabe to me
- Earl Clark will be a productive role player, but there is no way he has what it takes upstairs to be a star player - say hello to the next Tim Thomas
- Wayne Ellington will be in Europe before too long or he'll be sitting on his ass collecting splinters - can't create his own shot in the NBA, undersized for the 2 and has not speed or explosiveness - he's a specialist shooter who just isn't a good enough pure shooter to fill that role - pass
- Sam Young is the real deal - but that deal is as a defensive stopper/3-point specialist until he shows that he can effectively shoot off the dribble against NBA defenders - I think he's got a chance to be very solid, but i'd look at Bruce Bowen-to-Raja Bell type production.
- Terrance Williams is the most intriguing prospect IMO - but he is terrible shooting right now - he shows flashes, but he has to harness them to become a star - the rest of his game is star caliber, but if he can't score dynamically he will be a bench player...would trade up to get him in a heartbeat though - 3 position player defensively.
- Austin Daye intrigues everyone, but he's got a 10 cent head....not sure i'd give him guarenteed dollars.

I just want an athletic big that can play the 4/5, block some shots, rebound, and play D. I don't care where he comes from either.

I guess I must have missed all the times when both guys played alongside our best players. Or played at all outside of garbage time with our C-squad.
That's the one real problem I have with Doc. All of his substitutions are en masse for the most part. Walker never plays with Pierce or Allen. It's House or TA. If you really want to prepare these guys for any kind of intensity, playoffs or regular season, just do it in stints for a few minutes. Having one player outside of the regular starters on the court for 2-3 minutes won't single-handedly give our opponents a 20-point lead.

I'll probably add more comments to this thread in time. I don't know how far up we are talking about trading up/in....but DeMar DeRozan initially strikes me as rather underrated (despite being considered a top 10 pick).

Jrue Holiday initially intrigues me as well, as somebody that was on people's radar out of high school, is said to be an intelligent ball player, and is now considered a late first round pick after posting less than ideal numbers as an 18 year old freshman PG on an okay team playing a relatively tough schedule.
