Scal might be out for tonight?
"The Celtics' frontcourt could be tested by the Orlando Magic in tonight's Game 5 of their second-round playoff series. Forward Brian Scalabrine missed the Celtics' morning shootaround because of illness, but could be available for the game.
Celtic center Kendrick Perkins (left shoulder) practiced at near full speed and is expected to start."

Garnett and Powe out, Perk hurting, Scal sick, Mikki... is Mikki. I think it's obvious that the hoop gods want some small ball, otherwise why would they torment us so?

Re: Scal might be out for tonight?
Hate to see Scal not well, but I think he took a bump last game. I saw him look pretty rattled at one point of the game.
This might force Doc to put Pierce on Lewis, and that might not be such a bad thing. He has torched our 4's off of the dribble.

Somebody needs to light a match under KG?...JMO
Havilcek played on one leg in the playoffs...so didn't McHale
Either have surgery now... or suit up KG...
FACT...
Celtic stars play hurt when they are needed in playoff time..
KG... I'm calling you out!

Havlicek played with one arm in the playoffs (1973). Not leg. He had a shoulder separation. It cost the Celtics a title.
McHale was never right again after playing on a broken foot in 1987. He still is in pain to this day because of that. That cost the Celtics a title too.
Garnett should not rush back if it might jeopardize the rest of his career. Like Hondo and Kevin, they won't win the title anyway if he isn't healthy.

Dont matter Gant...
My memory at age 60 isn't perfect...
but the bottom line is that the great ones play hurt...
that was my point...
Career concerns are secondary to those who have the heart of a champion...JMO

I have been very patient...but I have to admit, that patience has worn thin...
He makes too much money to be sitting on the sidelines watching others play hurt....
It would be one thing if he had had the surgery....but that didn't happen...so now what?

I understand where you're coming from. It's just that none of us can know how much pain he's in- and a knee isn't a shoulder or even a foot. If your knee can't support you, you just can't play no matter how much you want to.
Garnett just doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would be sitting if there was any way he could be out there. No doubt he agrees with you on everything except it just physically can't be done.

This I can agree with, but he only has a finite amount of years left anyway...probably another 3 or so at a close-to-peak level...so they are taking the long-term approach. That being said, this injury has been botched so spectacularly from everyone involved from day 1...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Me too... its almost like he has this thing... that if he cant be the great dominating player that he is while he's completely healthy, he dosen't want to be out there at less than 100 percent...
And, you know, its almost like the Celtic's organization also seems to be more worried about their big $$$ investment in him than winning another championship?
I just dont get it really?
It's certainly not the old school approach?.... but more of a corporate one?
Call me a dinosaur....but things are not just the same as they used to be...and thats disappointing to me...

I didn't see scal get hit in the head so maybe it's just a virus etc. as for KG I share everyone's frustration. I guess though there's still the possibility that he returns if we get to the ECF or beyond

I heard on the the radio he has the flu. Not sure if it is of the swine nature but dude is not feeling well. However, I do expect to see him out there tonight. C's really need to come out of the gates strong to win this one with a depleted front line.

KG would be a huge help at 70%. He could give baby a 15+ minute rest every game.
I belive the only injuries you can't play through are head injuries and ones that involve surgery.

Only KG can answer that!
And this is surely one case where action speaks louder than words....
