I just read a comment that the Celtics are the only team in the league with no international players. Is that true?
(Look out world, Semih Erden is on his way.)

Could be. Sam Cassell is from another planet, but they cut him.

Maybe he was an illegal alien.

They were all-American last year as well...

Funny thing is that for the last ten years we have been picked in mock drafts to take some international white guy... <g> Because that's like what we always do according to the pundits.

who cares if our team is all Americans? I just want players who will help us win. If we can trade Moore for Yao, then I'd do it, but I wouldn't trade Pierce for Vujacic.

I don't think the Celtics have had an international scouting success since Darius Songaila. (Edit: He wasn't one either. He went to college in the US.)
That said, their domestic scouting and drafting have been very successful under Ainge.

Ainge likes to go with the known quantities. It is often tough to judge a guy that is playing in Europe against a different level of competition and a different game, really. International ball is a whole different world.
Can't argue at all with his success.

I would definitely like to see us more involved in scouting in Europe. There are some great players playing here who could contribute immediately, so I hope this will change in the future...

Yes it's true. As it was last year. I posted a short lived thread about this during last year's playoffs as well...

Didn't Chris Wallace do a bunch of European scouting when he was here? I wonder who handles those duties now.

Ainge was overseas frequently scouting Yi and others that year. They have international scouting but just haven't found anyone who was the top priority for their draft position except...
...Semih Erden!... who will arrive next training camp and try to surpass Estaban Batista.

who cares. It seems that non-american players have a much higher bust rate. I mean if we are going to get busted on it might as well be by an american right?

Perhaps the only team still in the play offs.
However:
As best as I can tell
76ers, Clippers, and TWolves
don't have any international players either.

I don't think Dino made the roster this year. They could use him though.

I know that Danny has sent the brain doctor over to Euro scouting camps before. I think Dave Wohl might be doing some overseas scouting, too.

dalembert is canadian, plays for team canada, clippers have kaman he plays for germany since last year. now i dont think celtics need international players at this moment, there are lot of good players especially in europe or argentina but most sucks in NBA, they are superior with fiba rules,in NBA they totally lack the physical skills and the speed.
