Rondo at the end of games...

I can not understand why Rondo is in at the end of games when we need to score. It makes no sense! They always help off of him and he has to take jumpers you know he can`t make. The guy isn`t a jump shooter, so why he is in is beyond me.
House has to be at PG when we have possession and we need to score! It worked great last season but this year Doc is going with Rajon every time. He probably wants Rondo to get experience, because eventually he will have to start hitting his jumper but in the playoffs you just have to be smarter than this!
If PP gets the ball he needs shooters around him. Rondo standing in the corner open and taking a jumper is a dream come true for all opponents...I don`t care if Rajon is a leader on this team now, you can not play him in closing minutes if he can not make shots...

I've got some REALLY bad news for you...Rondo is starting to think of himself as a 3-pt shooter. And that, my friend, is going to cause us much pain in the years ahead.

1000% agree
Pity marbury's jumper has been so inconsistent, he'd be perfect in these situations, a guard who can stick the open jumper and still hit up guys coming off screens.

Orlando has decided to leave Rondo open and is doubling Allen & Pierce. Have to consider House or Marbury if Rondo's cold on Sunday...

Yep....I'm glad he hits them when he does, but maybe he should work on nailing the 12-ft jumper before he becomes an outside shooter? Just a thought for Rajon...

starting to think of himself as a 3 point shooter? He only takes them when the clock is winding down, orlando has done a good job of forcing the ball back to Rondo by playing off of him in those situations. I don't like seeing Rondo shooting 3's, but it's better than a 24 second violation. The problem is the offense gets in a rut where no one is willing to take the ball at Dwight in the middle and orlando is sticking hard to our perimeter shooters. When Rondo and Paul attack Dwight we do well, when they let his shotblocking intimidate them we pass around the perimeter and force up bad shots with the clock winding down.

But Rondo is the most likely to do other things that help us such as get a rebound that doesn't just fall to him, get a steal, beat the defense for a layup. Hes Gonna have to get his shot sooner or later and we are giving up this season right (obviously I do ot believe this, it is more to mock the idiots who do) so why not let him gain experience now?

Rondo just needs to get more consistency in his head is all...that and learn how to shoot better!

Try watching the games before chiming in.

I am just talking about the last 2 minutes of the games where you can sub defense for offense due to timeouts taken...When we need a basket and we go to PP having Rondo standing in the corner instead of House or another jump shooter just isn`t a smart offensive play, IMO.

If you guys could somehow fuse Rondo and House together, you would have the top PG in the league.

Uh.. no one else on our team outside of Rondo and Marbury can even dribble. Its the reason we are such a high turnover team despite Rondo being solid in that regards. Thats one of the little talked about things about Rondo during these playoffs. Outside of yesterday he has really lowered the number of TO we commit. If we take Rondo out of an end of game situation our chances of even gettting a play off lowers considerably. I don't love the decisions Rondo makes in these situations, but the alternative is clearly worse.

The problem is when we go to Pierce isos and that is pretty much 80% of time in last 2 minutes. If basketball is in Paul`s hand there is no need for Rondo to be in the game...

Turns out you're the one not watching games...
During 80 regular season games, Rajon Rondo shot 48 3-point shots, making 15 of them.
During 13 post season games, Rajon Rondo has shot 23 3-point shots, making 6 of them.
So during the regular season, Rajon shot 0.60 3-point shots per game. During the post season, he is shooting 1.77 3-point shots per game. Thus, Rajon Rondo is shooting nearly 3 times as many 3-point shots in the post season as he did during the regular season!
My intent is not to make a fool of you, Floyd, but instead instead illustrate that Rondo has dramatically increased the number of 3-pt shots he's taking of late. And as I said earlier, this is bad news for all of us.

i just cant stand him at the end of games. He's disaster because of cant shot and his lack of confidence.I dont how he will improve his shot with that horrible form.it's just looking awful, i wish he could make his fts at least ,
But also we cant afford to lose his presence on defence,so it makes harder.
is it to late for change his shoting form ? any idea?

What this ignores is that Rondo is still far from looking for his 3pt shot, he is not starting to "think of himself as a 3pt shooter". He's been forced by defenses doubling off of him to have the ball in his hands with the clock winding down time and time again, what should he do? Force a pass to someone so they can take a contested shot with no time left on the shot clock or take a wide open three? Wait for a 24 second violation?

My only gripe with Rondo is he too often is trying to make the spectacular play when what we really need from him is the fundamentally sound play. Too many times he's trying those high velocity skip passes that turn into turnovers or the taking a gamble to steal the ball which often turn into 5 on 4 breaks for the Magic.

I watch the games and don't just look at the box scores. You either do the opposite or are trying to crap on players for made up things. He's clearing not looking for the three. If you watched the games you'd know that.
And thanks for "not trying to make a fool of me" by quoting some meaningless statistics. I was really worried about it.
edit:
He's also taking 72% more shots in the playoffs over all than in the regular season. Might have something to do with that big guy being hurt. So I think we can forgive his whole 1 extra 3-ball per game. I hardly think fewer than 2 three's per game consitutes a "three point shooter," especially from a pg. But keep combing those box scores for things to bitch about.
