Win or Lose last night judging by how we played....

I was planning on posting this. Anyone notice in this series especially how dismal our offense is. Its like the offense my under 12 team ran at the YMCA. Give the best player the ball and get out of the way. You always hear Doc talking about execution. Well Doc, letting Rondo dribble the air out of the ball for 20 seconds and taking a pull up jumper or giving it to someone for a contested jumper at the end of the shot clock is terrible. I counted at least three times last night where we were inbounding the ball with 1 second left on the 24. I thought our defense was amazing last night. If we could have controlled D12 on the offensive glass we would have won by 10 but oh well. I am not as mad about losing as I am how we lost. 29 points in the second half. Are you kidding me? I can't and wont put the blame on anyone, but i really didn't think anyone played very well. Maybe Perk, but thats it. I would have loved to see Paul make those free throws late to put us up 1, and then see the outcome, but it didnt work that way. He seems to be losing his touch on clutch free throws. I agree with some other posters, we need to find a way to get Ray some clean easy buckets which i think will translate to some made threes, but he isnt helping us at all right now. He is turning the ball over a lot and hasnt hit a shot since game 7 of the bulls series (minus the huge three in game 5 that pretty much won it for us

). We had our chance last night to close it out and I thought Paul was going to put us on his back when he scored 6 straight, still cant believe he was on the line on that three pointer though. Personally I thought we were scared of Dwight last night. Scared to go strong to the hole and try to finish. Doc needs to tell the guys to move the ball. Nothing but good things can happen if we do that. Game 7 is a toss up, but never under estimate the heart of the Celts.
Lastly, what is it going to take for DA to get an athletic wing player off the bench who can drive and shoot, ala Pietrus or Courtney Lee? That is a huge weakness that we have had for 2 years now.

Well thats the playoffs man, you win and you feel great you lose and you feel like its the end of the world, luckily game 7 is in Boston
Also ya those PP free throws mightve ended our run but it still wouldve only put us down 1 not up 1 so it would still be tough after that.
And I think finding a C Lee is easier said than done, he tried signing Maggette but he wanted more $ so we had to settle on TA.

Ainge did draft some damn good athletes in walker and giddens but it's going to take a couple fo years to get them up to speed on D.

Incorrect, we were down 76-75 at the point.

The jury is still out on whether they'll be effective NBA players, however...

Our offense stagnates when Rondo and Paul stop attacking the rim and Dwight Howard. It's easy to cheat off of Rondo on the perimeter and force the ball back to him with the clock winding down. The C's are putting themselves in a bad offensive situation more often then not, and of course when they finally get Ray an open shot he's laying more bricks than a union mason. If Rondo and PP just attack the rim we'll be fine, Howard will block some but he'll also commit some fouls, and he'll leave his man to come to the ball providing some easy buckets for Perk and BBD. Game 7, IMO, will be decided by how hard we attack Dwight.

Stagnation is one thing, but we lost the game because Rondo kept going for circus layups and everyone seemed to just do risky passes and throw the ball away the whole game.
Orlando played HORRIBLY and we missed our chance.
I predict both teams show up Sunday and it's a good matchup; but I hope we just have a good shooting game and blow them out with 3's to make things more relaxing.

I agree...before Orlando got their first lead, we had like 4 defensive stops in a row but followed them up with 4 putrid offense series...instead of building the lead back up to 8 or 10, we let them back in the game...

Yup, and it was like that the WHOLE game basically.

19 turnovers is why we lost the game.

Yup, pretty much comes to that. Great defense got us the lead; not taking care of the ball on offense lost it.
On another note, both Pierturs and Lee are so damn good - I'd love them on the Celtics.

Eh I think you have to give Orlando some credit. They were ranked as the number one defensive team this year. Dwight essntially cancels out the fact that they have a SF at the PF which means they could put an extremely offensive-minded 3 pt shooting, weak defender at the position and be no worse off. Most teams don't have a guy with Pierce's size and quickness but the Magic do. Most teams don't have the type of players who can run all day and cover Ray and the Magic do (Though a lot of it is Ray's fault). What killed me about last night was that Rondo and Perk both played really well, probably better than we can expect in game 7 and we sort of blew it.

Pietrus is talented but inconsistent. When they get contribution from him it can put them over the top.
