Hypothetical question

What if, next year, we start re-sign Starbury and start him instead of Rondo? Would that be effective? Worse? I wanna hear your guys' take on this. Serious question, btw.
EDIT: If we do end up re-signing Marbury, which is probably going to happen, he is going to go through training camp. After that, I feel like he's going to be a huge contributor to this team, guaranteed.

I like em both....but kinda think Rondo is the future....whilst Marbury aint. Steph if he stays could be a dynamite 6/7th man.

Start Marbury over Rondo? No offense but are you crazy? The man almost averaged a triple double. Your going to start washed up Marbury over him? Cmon now. Besides that quarter where Marbury killed ORL, he was a non factor. Eddie House contributed more then him.

Hopefully Rondo will put the work in during the offseason where we wouldn't even have to consider this (not that I think it'd happen anyways). Rondo should take some advice from Big Baby on developing a jumper, because Big Baby's shot has really evolved this season.

Rondo's inconsistency will diminish (not end). When it does, he will be far superior to Marbury in defense (all aspects), rebounding (obviously), and executing passes.
Scoring will probably remain a Marbury advantage.
Decision-making should be pretty close -- Rondo's inherently better, Marbury isn't terrible and remains more experienced, Rondo knows this team better.
Rondo should and will remain the starter. The question is whether Marbury can take 20 minutes off of him, or score so well that he gets a large number of minutes by adding some at SG even when the backup-swingman situation improves.

Geez, what else does Rondo need to show you for you to believe he's the present and future starting PG for this team? A 3rd year PG busting out in the playoffs with most of his games being excellent and we're still harping about his faults and inconsistencies?
He was the best player on the team for 7 games vs. the Bulls.
He keeps improving at a spectacular pace from year to year.
He's one of the fastest and quickest players in the world.
He's a very good defender.
He's a great passer.
An incredible rebounder.
A hungry competitor with good work ethic.
Please. Of course he's made some mistakes and has room to improve but this young kid is absolutely, positively the starting PG for the C's for the foreseeable future. And so he should be.

Not be a double team waiting to happen? how many offensive possessions break down specifically because the ball is funnelled into rondo who just drives regardless of whether that's the best option.
It works against teams with no interior.
It doesn't work against teams with interior defense.
And I'm not just talking about Orlando. It didn't work against Cleveland last year. And likely wouldn't work against the lakers with bynum.
I'm not asking Rondo to turn into Jameer Nelson here and hit 3s like no tommorow but a 15 foot floater he could go to consistently / hit 45% of the time would absolutely change everything and open things up for his teamates. A lot more than being ignored, causing your teamate to miss the shot and then running in for the offensive board, in my opinion. I've never been a big fan of offensive rebounding as a key to victory. I prefer my teams to get a clean shot the first time.

Hey, I feel the same about his jumper - so does the rest of the world. It's not news that he can't hit them consistently and that it's his biggest glaring weakness, but he's the best we have at PG, one of the best young PGs in the league and only getting better. Do you really not want him to be the future PG of this club? Do you not think his jumper will improve throughout his career? The post was about perhaps replacing him with Marbury at the starting position; about him not being good enough to be a starter. IMO that's ludicrous.

Marbury would be great backup for Rondo, significantly boosting Celtics bench, but I seriously doubt he stays - Marb wants bigger role and bigger salary, Celtics can provide neither.

I think we will also consider starting Moore over KG
