here is what i'd like to see danny do in the offseason through free agency

now this is purely dependant on what we do in the draft and whether we make trades and whatnot

but as of now you can't depend on trades, and our current pick in the draft will not likely net us a player that will make the team next year

so here would be my plan to add to our bench

1. resign big baby to a 3 to 5 mil contract for 4 yrs or so

2. resign powe to the vets min for 1 year

3. adress the bench needs of backup point, forward and center positions

backup point: resign steph to a 1 year vets min OR sign bobby jackson for cheap

backup forward: use part of the MLE to sign Matt Barnes, Anthony Parker, or Linus Klieza

backup center: this would be an insurance big man to play behind powe and big baby off the bench who will hopefully add some size: here i would look to add Rasho Nesterovich, Joe Smith, Antonio Mcdyss, Theo Ratliff or MAYBE, maybe eddy curry

from there i would look to trade and move up in the draft by buying picks and trading expiring contracts like pruitt, allen, and walker and giddens

realistically i think we coould potentially buy our way into the first round and throwing in guys like that i think we could move up as high as 18 to 20 and have a chance to grab a guy like chase budinger, who could be vital to a post big three era

This seems to be the consensus. I forgot about Bobby Jackson. He'd be great as a scoring PG off the bench if we use Eddie in a trade.

i like the matt barnes,anthony parker and linus kliza are to guys that would be a simliar fit

i would keep eddie, he is unlikely to deny his player option so the only way we could get rid of him is via trade or buying him out, im all for trading him to help the team but i feel that in the long run keeping him would benifit us more than releasing or trading him

i doubt that larry wants to trade away raja bell; especially for scal and tony, but i would make that trade in a seconnd

maybe drew gooden but i dont even consider kwame if im danny, and those two are more power forward types, i would rather add a true backup center ala rasho nestorovich or curry if the knicks buy him out and antonio mcdyess is the way to go if we cant get a true center

at this point i would opt for the cheaper option between steph and bobby jackson, and lean toward jackson if they are the same price, he has more experience being a backup than steph does

finally i would look to trade pruitt and either walker/giddens or both to try to move up in the draft, ive heard a lot of experts say that teams will be able to just flat out buy draft picks this year so why not take advantage of that? and if we are throwing in some cheap players who may can help another team wouldnt that just impreove our chances?

it would be great if we could "buy" are way up and get someone like buddinger, ellington, calithes, danny green, or even someone like pat mills to sit and learn on our bench

and maybe take a second round longshot on someone like josh heytvelt, aj price, dante cunningham, or jerell mcneal

my dream (realistic) offseason would go end up with a roster like this

starters;

pg. Rondo, bobby jackson, aj price

sg. Ray, eddie, giddens

sf. Pierce, barnes, buddinger

pf. kg, big baby, powe, scal

c. perk, rasho

that leaves the starters: rondo, ray, paul, kg, and perk

the main rotation guys: baby, barnes, eddie, bobby jackson, scal, and rasho

the young guys with potential to sit and learn: giddens, price, buddinger,

and a chance for powe to come back for cheap and see if he can revert to the same player he was before the injury
