He was on latest edition of Celtics Now with Michael Holley and said he had a free agent in mind.
Holley asked if he was a 6'8" forward from St. Vincent's ...anyone here anything?

Well a 6'8" forward from St. Vincent is LeBron James.
it's gonna take a lot to get him here.

I DVR'd the episode and just rewatched it, he is not referring to Lebron, in fact he laughed at the insinuation.
He said, "I have a pesonal guy in mind (as a free agent).....I'd like to think we can get somebody like this guy (guy he had in mind)"
Curious to know who he is thinking about.

The one MLE type FA I see that would go to the point of Wyc being involved is Charlie Villanueva. I get the vibe that there is a UConn banner hanging somewhere in his house and Charlie is a guy who could end up being a total steal in an environment like Boston were he has KG and Ray. If it works it also may allow you to simply slide Paul back to the 2 and go big when Ray's clock runs out.
But I only hear the voices in my head.

Noted also that Spears said that Walker, not Tony Allen would be backing up PP next year and Wyc was nodding in agreement.

Hopefully its someone that can make an impact off our bench... not just a project type player

Bill Walker better be the guy getting minutes at the backup SF. He's too damn talented to ride the bench for another season. I completely understand Doc not playing him this year, but with a full season of rest, learning the system, and working on his game under his belt, I'd say Skywalker should be ready to contribute 15 mpg in the fall.
I like the idea of getting Charlie V in green. We really missed having a guy that could defend the 3/4 and shoot the three this year. Scal gave us just about all he could and it wasn't enough. It's not his fault that he's not athletic enough to defend guys like Shard, but we need someone who can.

walker did not show that much in his limited minutes this year, and was unable to find time on a roster that had only one viable option by the end of the year, what makes you think that he will be the answer next year? thats not even mentioning that he cant hit a three to save his life
im not sure charlie V would be a good fit either, he is more of a tweener than anything, im not sure if he can guard he is strong enough to guard the four spot or quick enough to guard the 3
i'd rather go with someone like kleiza, barnes, or anthony parker, who are all 6'8 play decent enough defense at the 2 and 3 spots and can consistently hit the three
and then find someone like rasho nesterovitch, antonio mcdyess, theo ratliff, or eddy curry at backup center

Is he interested in this guy this offseason or next??? Charlie V would be great on this team but is he really a defender!? What do you guys think happens with Giddens. The guy dominated the D-League (prob doesn't mean much) and seems promising (athletic, long, and defensive minded), but he will probably get Walker minutes next year! We need to find a way to keep our stars fresh throughout the season!

Walker hasn't shown a ton of smarts in NBA games yet, IMHO. Granted maybe he is great in practice and thus I am only getting a partial picture. But based on last year TA is a far superior player - even if Doc lost faith in him (and Doc never had any faith in Walker).
I think its critical for us to get an athletic long back up to PP that Doc will actually PLAY. I don't care if its Walker, Trevor Arizia or Outlaw at this point.

What's the obsession with Charlie V.
He's too small and weak to be a PF, too big and slow to be a SF. He isn't a good defender and just is not a good fit for Boston.
Grant Hill would definitely be nice.

I think Wyc's like me. The C's need size and would be happy with Zaza Pachulia.

Outside of pulling a huge steal for a guy like artest, marion or childress with the MLE we need to be aiming for size first.... sheed, zaza, rasho etc

thing is... he'd be the main back up for ray and paul, aswell as picking up some spot minutes at the 4
there would be plenty of time, but houston will pay him
