A couple of reports that KG's surgery was successful, and it doesn't look like they found any surprises.

Still sounds like he could have problems with that tendon though....Bone spurs not related to the tendon injury.....hmmm...not happy about that.

Someone help me understand how the tendon that caused KG to miss the playoffs does not need any surgery.

Because KG is intense? Im going to be paranoid over kgs injury all summer long...

It already healed, bone spurs rubbing up against it were causing his knee to inflame if he used his legs too much.

I don't think I've ever heard a report of a player undergoing unsuccessful surgery. Hoping for the best, though.

so again, why wasn't this done back in February? the whole thing makes no sense. I think KG was opposed to surgery and had he had the surgery we might still be playing

Well, I think Boston will def have another solid run in them next year... it just depends on how KG recovers from his injury

A couple years ago, after his microfracture, K-Mart was getting a scope done, but they found so much debris during surgery that he needed another microfracture surgery IIRC. At that point, his career officially ende..what? He's playing in the WCF??

So the actual injury wasnt fixed and it didnt healed in several months now, why do they think removal of bone spurs (about which they knew even before last season) will be enough for KG to come back healed in 6-8 weeks? I dont see it happening, maybe they hope long summer will be enough to heal actual injury by itself, but I'm not so sure I dont have much confidence in Celtics doctors tbh, more than 2/3 of injured Celtics roster just before playoffs says a thing or two, maybe Wyc should hire Suns doctors team instead.

If this is the case and he had surgery back in February he would have been available for the playoffs, at least from the 2nd round on.

Al Jefferson had bone spurs a few seasons ago, and our staff messed up that diagnosis. it would seem to me that either our staff screwed up again or KG's problems are worse than we are told.

The popliteus tendon comes into immediate contact with the joint capsule, a number of ligaments and tendons, and the bones of the knee. With each movement of the knee, the popliteus tendon slides past these parts, which may irritate the tendon. Chronic irritation leads to inflammation of the tendon and the surrounding structures, with the gradual development of popliteal tendinitis.

Maybe a spur stuck out enough to irritate this?

So, if this is true for KG---if they had the surgery done in Feb....he most definitely would have been playing in the playoffs...and Banner no,18 would be raised later this year.

I think its clear that his injury was handled incorrectly but by the time they realised the real issue was the bone spurs it was too late to change course.

Something doesn't sit right with me.

Forget about having surgery in February, or earlier, which might have made KG available for the playoffs.

There supposedly were 3 problems with KG's knee.

Problem 1: Bone Sprurs ..... Solution: Remove bone spurs with surgery

Problem 2: Strained tendon ... Solution: Rest, electrical stimulation, ultrasound,
muscle relaxants, flexibility and strength exercises. This presumes that the
tendon problem is not more serious, like it is separating from the bone or something.

Problem 3: The knee ocasionally locks up ... Solution: ???

How many times were fans strewn along that KG would be back 100% before???

Where did they address the knee lockup issue??

Somehow, after being lied to 4 times already now (or whatever, with KG's "down" period repeatedly extended, or his return to court put off, whatever) I don't believe that they have addressed, or at least stated, a solution to the problem of the knee locking up.

What will the next surprise be? Oops, sorry, KG can't return to training camp in October, he's still recovering from surgery?

I still say the Celtics braintrust mismanaged this from the start. Me, I saw the guy limp in November, I say, let's go under the knife. He doesn't want to, you bring in 100 specialists to tell him why sooner is better than later.

Exactly. I was very disappointed (rather furious) when I learned that the C's organization was aware of KG's knee problems during the start of the season and decided to postpone measurements for another six months and roughly 70 more games.

this whole thing was a cluster****. Again , my belief is the Celtics probably told KG he needed surgery and he refused. This really was a lost season and it was so unnecessary because if he had had the surgery back in February or whenever this first surfaced we'd still be playing now.
