Jamario Moon on the Celtics?

From the wiretap
Jamario Moon will be a restricted free agent this summer.
After spending less than half of a season with the Heat, following a trade from the Raptors, he isn't sure if Miami will re-sign him.
Moon said Tuesday that Heat officials told him "they are really impressed with me," but his status is in question because of both the salary cap and the sports hernia that ended his season.
What do you think? He can shoot the 3, is athletic, and would fit into the Celtics' defensive philosophy. He'd also be pretty cheap and willing to come off the bench.

Not a bad pickup. But he won't be as cheap as you think. Probably will demand 3-5 mil per year.

Moon would be an upgrade over Tony Allen. Do we have an idea of the money he is looking for?

He made 750k this year. I think he'll take probably 2 or 3 Million.

So that's mean that we can sign big baby or moon? Anyway it's gonna be 3-5 mil per year right.

I'd welcome a Moon signing. We could probably do better, but we could also do a lot worse. And if he comes at the right price that allows us to sign a solid big man off the bench, I'm all for it.

Considering that he's a restricted free agent, would Miami match an offer? They've James Jones, Beasley (if converted), Yakhouba Diawara and Dorell Wright who can play small forward.

We could sign both Baby does not count against the MLE, but I can't say I think we will.

If they did I'd be open to trying to acquire Dorell Wright.
Anyways, I'm not sure Jamario Moon is restricted. His contract was only for two seasons...
He is one of the least TO prone players in the league. He can hit the open trey, not a sharp shooter by any means but a better shooter than Scal. Physically he is very similar to Posey. On the defensive end he is comparable to Tony (the positives clearly outweigh the 'going for jump fakes'). All in all he is similar to Bowen in the sense he is a defensive oriented role player who didn;t come into his own til the late 20s.
I'd rather have Marion. Or Odom/Artest. But Moon is and has been my clear "less than perfectly ideal" choice.

I don't know the price Moon would demand, but if I am not mistaken we can sign (and/or trade) Baby without using the MLE. Anyone care to verify?

I'm a fan. I would like to see moon on this team next season.
They're are gonna be plenty of options, let's just hope Danny and Co. does not sit back and watch. He made a push for a big name like Maggette last year, let's hope he does something to that effect again this year.

MIA wants cap space for 2010, right? So, offering him a 2 year guaranteed deal alone would probably make them think twice about matching...

I was just gonna make a thread on this....
I think he'd be perfect for us. He's athletic, can defend the 2/3, can hit the open J and can run the break with Rondo. If we offer him like 3yrs @ 10million he'd defiantly take it.

Is it just me, or are Jamario Moon and Trevor Ariza almost exactly alike (statistically speaking)? If we picked up Jamario, that'd be like picking up Ariza, which is a HUGE upgrade.

Moon is only a decent 3 pt shooter IMO. Not the type of guy who really scares you from distance but he's respectable as a shooter. Aside from that he won't give you much offensively besides put backs and alley oop plays. Defensively however he's very active, long, and quick for a SF. He could make a really solid contribution for the Celtics defensively relieving Pierce and potentially playing alongside him at the wing position, with Pierce sliding to the SG spot.
I don't really have any idea what Moon's market will be but it seems likely that the Celtics wouldn't be able to snag Moon on a minimum or LLE contract. Meaning that they'd have to dip into the MLE to sign him which may be prohibitive if they're looking at making a play for Dyess, Sheed, etc.

Moon can play both forward positions. Pierce hasn't played shooting guard since earlier in his career. I doubt Rivers will ask him to play shooting guard at this point. Pierce is strictly a small forward and a part-time power forward in a smaller line-up.
My preference wouldn't be Moon. I think you can develop Walker to resemble him someday.

I love his game. He's actually not that much of an inferior player to Marion. Not as diverse with his offensive moves of course but a great bang for the buck. Underrated for sure. Excellent defender, long and athletic, thrives in the open court, solid 3-point shooter, energy off the bench - exactly what we need.

I like Moon too. I would probably fit nicely for us. But I rather than Barnes. Barnes is the guy we need to get.

I'd much rather have Moon than Barnes. Moon is just a better player, more athletic, higher fg guy, pretty much the same from the outside as well.
If the C's can land Moon or Ariza, get an athletic center, and find a way to sign BBD or Powe I'll be a happy guy.
