Boston offered us tony allen and Jr Giddens for Green verbally...not sure what that does for us. Probably nothing. He is usually a pretty good insider in the Philly forum. Pretty interesting if true.

hmm.... hes listed at 6'3, i always thought he was bigger
we need a guy that can really play the 3 on both ends if we are looking at a wingman

Know next to nothing on Willie Green, but I don't mind shedding TA or Giddens, if that's the best we can get, then it is what it is.

I don't see how adding Green improves us, no matter who we would give up.

Willie Green isn't necessarily as bad as his rep and is at peak age, but its not like he's a significant upgrade over other options (including TA, Giddens)...and really statistically he is hardly even a upgrade significant upgrade over TA on the offensive end, even. He also makes 4 mil in '10-11.
This would free up a roster spot but unless we would also be getting Philly's 17th pick I wouldn't support it.

The only thing I get from this is we get rid of 2 dumb bball dudes for hopefully a smart one.

He can hit the shot but isn't all that better than Tony in that capacity (when Tony is completely healthy and playing relatively well for himself). He is 28 years old. He is known to have poor shot selection. Like Tony, his strength is being aggressive and getting to the rim, but he is less TO prone. He is not as solid on the defensive end.

Willie Green has for years had the rep as being one of the league's stupidest players. That said stats don't fully support that in recent seasons.

Anyone remember this article?
"We've talked a couple times," Green said.
Allen missed the last 48 games last season after having left knee surgery Jan. 13. While recovering, Allen was impressed after seeing a highlight-reel Green dunk on ESPN late last season since they both had similar anterior cruciate ligament surgeries. In hopes of getting in touch with Green for advice, Allen had someone give his phone number to him.
"I called him immediately to encourage him," Green said about their first conversation. "I knew what he was going through with the whole ACL situation. I think we had the exact same surgery. I just told him what to expect.
"He was a little nervous like I was after I [had surgery]. I was like, 'Man, you're going to be back. You're going to be jumping. It's going to be a little minute, but you'll be back to your old self after a year or so. You'll be back after seven months.' He was real excited. He thanked me for calling him. It was cool."
"The good thing about it is we were both young guys when it happened," Green, 26, said. "It's almost like a high-ankle sprain now. Guys do it all the time. They know how to perform the surgery good and you can come back from it."

No, Hell No why would we trade tony allen for a more expensive version of tony allen?
i would rather take a chance and see what giddens could give us than to take a chance with willie, so danny uh just say no, and never speak of this again

tony allen has ZERO value in this league. Giddens' only value is that he's a first rounder that got no playing time .
Willie Green has averaged around 10 pts off the bench for the past couple years. He can both shoot and defend adequately. Why would people be opposed to this?

Allen and Green are pretty much the same player. Right now the difference is that Allen is coming off an injury. I wouldn't give up the C's current contract situation for an extra year guaranteed of Green at a higher cost.

Isn`t the Philly poster an insider? So, it could be true...
But if Green is the only thing we can get for 3 mio expirings then this offseason will be just as horrible as our last!
Green is nothing more than an average player and we want to pay him 4 million next season? Don`t do stupid trade Danny please!

No logic in this trade....getting sg with another year remaining on contract when sg(House) is the only position on bench set for next season.
This predraft time is really bad rumors like...people make them up every day!

My guess is that Ainge is "offering" the expiring contracts of Allen, Giddens, as well as Scalabrine around to all takers to see what might shake loose.
The Sixers are over the cap with only 10 roster spots full so this is certainly a deal they might be interested in and if Boston is looking to upgrade Tony and free up a roster spot this might work.
Green isn't much of an upgrade, but he is better offensively, specifically in the assist/turnover dept, and a more consistent scorer. His defensive rating is awful but that may reflect marking the opponents best wing more than ability, as Tony has a great rating but that is mostly from being over aggressive more than playing straight up tough defense.
Its a Yugo and a Moped for a Hyundai.

I don't see this trade as a bad thing. Willie Green is very much like Allen except he's actually healthy. Giddens is not getting any burn anyways. It seems like a simple consolidation of talent. It's not like Tony and Giddens have any trade value right now anyways.

No, stay away from Willie Green. He seems like a good guy, but he's a chucker if there ever has been one, and a horribly inefficient one.
His TS% for his career is .476.
His TS% career high is .493
That's awful. Absolutely awful. Everyshot he takes is a shot that a more efficient player could be taking. I'm disappointing to hear Ainge even looking into Willie Green, doesn't he like to use statistics a decent amount in his analysis? Every stat in the book says keep away in terms of Green.
