The "Slimmer" Paul Pierce

I was watching over some old Boston Celtics highlights and I remembered that Paul Pierce lost some weight to get lighter this year.

Now what I am curious about is your opinions on whether or not you noticed much of a difference in the "slimmer" Paul Pierce this season than last season?

Did it benefit him in any way?

Thoughts ....

I think if anything his style changed from a mix of deep shots and penetration...to mainly deep jumpers....and I think that was an age issue, not a slimming issue....perhaps 'slimming' down will prolong his career and avoid injuries....did he miss time this year through injury?

I'm also not sure the trimmed-down Pierce lasted too many months into the season. I'd like to see him try it again this year.

I noticed a positive difference in health, if not anything else, at the beginning of this season.

But not after the beginning of the season.

We won't see Paul any slimmer at his age. The 26 year old Paul Pierce is gone forever. Player never get slimmer in their 30's.

I thought Pierce was looking far from slim at the end of the season and playoffs. It looked like he put on weight, if anything.

Yeah, he was "slimmer," that's why he looked so dehydrated/fatigued late in the season

I didn't notice any difference in how he played. He did seem to transform back into his usual Hulk-like self towards the end.

Didn't he also trim down in 06, but by the end of the year he looked like his old self again! It a lot harder to keep the weight off than it is to actually lose it. He really benifited from a health standpoint this year but his game really didn't. As someone already mentioned he relied on his jumpshot a lot more and thats not really his game!

I think the road trips and such fatten him up... Whereas in the summer he likely has a personal chef and can just work out more..

I think he's got to drop more weight this time--and keep it off--simply to slow down his slowing down. Also, the more he gravitates out to the perimeter the less good his weight is doing him.

I think he's more thick then fat. That's how I like my women too. Just lift up the rolls and your good to go. There's just more of them to love.

he was at his peak physically in 2001 imo
in that nets series the greatest comeback in playoff history or w/e
his style of play was so different
he was just blowing by richard jefferson to the rack everytime
he was visibly more athletic

Despite pre-season reports that Paul Pierce "lost 10 pounds",

I thought that Pierce looked 10 pounds overweight during pre-season,

and 15 pounds overweight at the end of the season.

Unfortunately, despite KG, Ray Allen and Rondo being in Tip Top Shape,

Paul has not seemed to grasp the dedication and devotion to a program,

all the time, like KG, Ray Ray and Rondo have.

Pierce could extend his productivity as he ages if he were to get on board

like Ray, who is about 2 years and 3 months older than Paul.

It's a bunch of nonsense.

We ran him into the ground because Ainge decided he didn't need a competent backup to spell him - one of the dumbest things Danny Ainge has done in Boston.
