Monta Ellis wants out of Golden State

Post#1 » by cfan79 » Tue Jun 16, 2009 8:31 pm

If we could get their pick and Biedrins in a package I would be happy with that. I'm not sure how we would get him though his contract has BYC provisions.

No way they give up Biedrins for just expirings or anything we have to offer.

They have to get something for Ellis, whose starting to grumble. For the right package I think we could get him.

Ellis. Biedrins aren't available for anything you're willing to give. They guy I think you should be after, god help me, is Jamal Crawford. He'll give you more of a boost than most think, IMO. With his ability to shoot the 3, play both guard spots, and score at a high rate, he'd give your bench some firepower it was missing before.

No thanks, he looks manorexic. Good offensive player, but his D stinks. He's so skinny he doesn't look like he can stay in front of his man.

Even you have to find it far fetched that they would include a top tier young big man and a lottery pick to move a young star guard no matter how disgruntled.

What are we sending in this package? Ray, Rondo, and Perk.

The market for Ellis is not exactly going to be hot. He missed 3/4's of the season because of his own poor choice and is owed 55 mil over 5 years. But if he was the one that had to convince them not use a lottery pick on a guard he is the only one with any **** brains in that room. For **** sake they have Ellis, Crawford, Jackson, and Maggette all on big money deals and they have one big man worth a damn at all.

If a temper tantrum from Ellis is what it takes so be it but if they draft a guard the damn franchise should be voided and players distributed for being idiots.

I read that he's upset more so because they didn't want to give him an extension right away because of the moped incident. I think they are bound to stay in the lottery anyways so they might as well rebuild and get rid of all their big contracts.

I see your point though Sully, they might want to package Ellis and Biedrins in different packages if they were trading them. Ellis would likely go with either Stephen Jackson or Corey Maggette.

Rondo would most likely be included since GS needs a PG.

GS is a good potential trading partner for us.

Ellis
Jackson
Buike
Morrow
even Crawford, could fit in nicely with our team. GS has a glut of wings, and we're looking for one.

I really do not care for Stephen Jackson, but that's just me to an extent.

I like Monta Ellis. Very talented. Not necessarily a great fit for us especially considering his contract, but I would consider any opportunities to land him.

The knock on his game is that he is rather selfish. But he is also real young and last season - after missing a lot of it and being involved in controversy - he was playing alongside Jamal Crawford/Corey Maggette, Stephen Jackson. These three guys were the team's veteran leaders. In a better situation and with age I am not worried about Ellis' purported selfishness.

He is currently a pathetic defender. But he has NEVER been held responsible for his defense. Not on the Bulls, not on the Knicks, not on the Warriors. Except for one season. Under Larry Brown. And all of a sudden Crawford was an alright defender, as soon as he learned that his minutes would scale with his ability to play defense. I may be a crazed loner, but I think he'd buy into the Celtics and help them out, and he's the one guy you can get with absolute crap expirings. And I personally detest Crawford, I just envision him as a fit with you guys.

I wouldn't mind a Ray, Rondo for Ellis, Crawford, and one of Randolph, Wright. Crawford would play the right way here and can play some point next to House. Ellis gives us a much better offensive player at the point and can pressure the ball like Doc likes the PG to do. Wright gives us a good young prospect to replace Garnett when ready.

Throw in the pick. Ray+Powe+Rondo for Ellis, Crawford, and the number 7 which we use to select Jordan Hill. That'd be alright by me.

Ray+Rondo for Ellis+Jackson + #7 pick....not horrible---but I think I'd rather have Amare for Ray Allen and we keep Rondo....or the original Ray/Rondo for Amare/Barbosa + #14 trade....We can't just give Ray and his HUGE expiring deal away.

if you trade Ray Allen, it has to be for another ALL STAR player...I don't think Jackson OR Ellis meet that requirement--plus you add Rondo--nah....just a sideways move AT BEST.
