BOS / LA Clips / MEM

Post#1 » by Celtics>Breathing » Wed Jun 17, 2009 8:54 am

I know my Boston fans won't like this but was wondering what everyone else thought.

Boston:

Chris Kamen
Mike Conley
Zach Randolph
#2 pick 2009

LA Clippers:

Ray Allen
Marco Jaric

Memphis:

Rajon Rondo
Kendrick Perkins
Tony Allen

Boston brings on salary but a lot of depth and talent.
Clippers drop salary. Clears way for new franchise player. Brings in some class.
Memphis brings in two young proven players. No lottery bust. Clears salary.

Uhhh, we'd absolutely hose everyone in that trade. Why TF would they do that?

I would not touch that deal if I was the Celtics. There is no reason to blow this thing up.

Zach Randolph has negative value and Kaman has a large history of injuries. Boston is absolutely getting hosed. We give up three quality players and get just one back and he has a history of injuries.

I hear what everyone is saying but:

Our starting 2 guard is going to be 35 in July and make 19+ million. Our starting center might have shoulder issues for a very longtime (that's not an injury that goes away, I should know) and an upcoming contract extension. Our starting point guard is great when he's in the mood to be, and oh..... he can't shoot over 65% from 15ft away with no one guarding him, and wants to get paid $$$$ for it.

When we won our championship we had no championship experience, so that's not a valid argument. If anyone is going to straighten Z-Bo out it's gonna be KG, and Z-Bo would be a force of the bench (30 min a night/6 MOTY). Kaman is an extremely talented big man (off & def) who will nab you 15/10/2 every night (does come with injury concerns). Conley has potential to be very good pg. And to shore up our front line a project with huge upside (Thabett). To go along with PP and KG, and hopefully a quality FA (Andre Miller, Marion, Anthony Parker).

Plus we lose Perk who's cover up some of his inept ability on the defensive end.
