Love Big Al, but Stoudemire's better and probably won't clash with Love as much. The sixth pick might be overpaying for the difference though.

EDIT: Scratch that. He might be a better fit, but they're too close in talent to warrant a first round pick, especially with that fact that Amare'd never re-sign in Minnesota.

I actually think Al is the better player, is younger, is signed long term to a very reasonable contract and has no character issues..

Amare on the other hand would probably whine for a season and then bolt

let alone the pick

Oh man. This thread could be titled better..

If Phoenix deals Amare for Al and 6, you have to wonder if they really think Jefferson is a better piece to build around - seems more like they do it for the draft pick.

If Kerr's ultimate goal is to cut salary, you'd then have to start thinking about getting Big Al back in Boston. Ray for Al/Barbosa?

Would do this in an instant and would include Rondo if it meant getting the sixth pick back (Ray alone isn't fair value for those two, by a lot, I know they want to cut salary, but the rumors from the Shaq deal allude to them wanting some talent in return).

Something like...

Minnesota gets: Amare, 14th pick (to even it out a bit)
Boston gets: Al, Barbosa, 6th pick
Phoenix gets: Rondo, Ray

Maybe find a 4th team to take Rondo, since Phoenix sounds like they aren't ready to replace Nash any time soon. Maybe Rondo to Minnesota instead of the 14th pick and Foye back to Phoenix?

Meh, just a ton of speculation, kind of hope this doesn't happen for Minnesota.

Big Al is coming off knee surgery and has had injury issues. But I really like this for PHX. I wonder if Minnesota will get the 14th pick back. Because that would make a lot more sense.

Yeah I think Amare is better than Big Al too..Amare is a **** monster..Al will be too..but Amare is my dude..I've liked him since his rookie season. but your right, he would never, ever, ever, everrrrrrr re-sign with Minny..so if Minny gives up Al..it will be for a rental of Amare..then he's gone and they suck for 10 more years.

If it's really Amare for Big Al and the sixth pick straight up that's a terrible deal for Minnesota. I never imagined a team could be fleeced so badly trading for a young All-NBA big man in his prime but here we are.

I doubt Big Al's injury problems are much of a factor for Minnesota in this deal; they'd be trading for a guy who's had microfracture surgery and just missed half a season because of a freak eye injury.

Now that I think of it, I have a stronger loyalty to Big Al for emerging here than I do to seeing Minnesota getting a fair share. I'd love to see Al in a great situation in Phoenix.

Danny has a history of dealing with BOTH teams...maybe he's working on a three way trade...Marc Spears seems to be getting pieces of info---maybe they'll all add up to something big-?

If we got Al back I'd actually nut myself.

Don't think it'll happen though.

You could say the same about Amare, he is just further removed from his last knee surgery. Al has a higher ceiling and a better attitude, IMO

So it sounds to me like McHale is leaving Minny because he is, presumably, against the trade? Even if Minny was to also get back the 14th pick, I still really don't like this from their perspective. Now, if the deal was Big Al/Miller/Cardinal for Amare/Nash it could make more sense, but would still be risky as those guys are expiring and a lot of teams will have cap space next offseason.

Lastly, I would trade Rondo for Big Al...

Interestingly, some quotes from the Minny board, regarding Wolves pres David Kahn...

- I asked whether the fact that McHale handpicked the current players (meaning they feel an extra sense of attachment to him) was a big part of the coaching decision. Kahn said it was a factor, but a minor one, and that ultimately most of the current players probably wouldn't be with the team for long anyway.

- I then asked if his previous comment about wanting 7-10 new players by 2010 was true. He said yes, and that he's basically building a 16 month window starting with the 09 draft to remake the roster. I commented that that seemed like a lot of turnover, and he simply said "we have to". He very much understands, better than most of the fans actually, how thoroughly uncompetitive the current roster is. Thank God for that.

Wow....if Minny does that...I don't even wanna talk about it.

On a brighter not, Jefferson could get to be Shaq's team mate adn learn from him.

Or how bout this:

Would you have done the rumored Phoenix deal (Rondo and Ray for Amare', Barbosa, and the #14) if Amare' could be flipped for Big Al and the #6?

I would, Jefferson is my man crush

I believe Danny involved on this trade if ever not Danny did not yet show his cards what he done in KG-Ray Allen comes into Celtics.

There are second storms coming, after KG-Allen trade made by Celtics.
