Looks Like Rondo Won't Be Traded...Thank God

Ainge said a Rondo trade is unlikely and that his goal is to win a championship next year.

With all do respect "joeyswag" it's just like when a rumor that a trade is going to happen. This is basically confirming that Rondo is on the block.

This means as much as any other rumor. However, if true, good news.

Long as he doesn't get extended at 12million per - or whatever his agent wants. He holds his trade value which is fine for us.

This basically. Keep in mind we thought a KG trade was dead and knew nothing about the Ray Allen move until draft night back in 2007.
Though Ainge declined to discuss the rumors involving Rondo, a team source sniffed at the speculation involving the young floor leader, saying, “Rondo’s not going to be traded.”
Haha, It wasn't Ainge who said that, it was a "team source". Someone must be lying for Ainge. Rondo is definitely on the trading block

LOL no matter what Danny says people are giving him crap... He could say "Rondo is as good as gone" and there'd be a thread about how Danny Ainge is going to lock up Rondo for a max deal and there'd be mixed reviews all over the board. He can say Rondo will retire as a Celtic and there will be people going for his head cause CLEARLY Rondo is on his way out.

On that note, like most, I trust Danny so let's not read too much into anything he says and just see what happens, and NOT freak out over any trade that may or may not occur because as we all know, there is a major picture DA is looking at and there could always be follow up deals.

trade for Ray: C's board total confusion/even some outrage.
trade for KG: Board apologetic to DA and he is now a god.

Let's just relax and enjoy the offseason.

Ainge said it was unlikely he would be traded - which means he might. Not that it would necessarily mean much, but Ainge did't say "He's not being shopped", or "No way I trade Rondo". Essentially he's saying he might trade him, and that he's not untouchable. In GM speak, this is a bad time for Rondo to buy a house in Boston.

That's how I read into it also, but the quote from the other celtics person just got me confused.

Ainge said it was unlikely that the team was going to trade up in the draft, not that it was unlikely that he would trade Rondo. In regards to the Rondo rumors, he "declined to discuss the rumors involving Rondo" which you could still interpret as Ainge not saying anything is a sign that Rondo has been involved in talks.

Thanks, you're right I do have the context of the quote wrong.

17, 10, and 10 in the playoffs. Our best player in the playoffs. I'm glad Rondo is staying and I hope he is a Celtic for years to come.

He single handidly won us the Bulls series and more or less lost us the Magic series.

17-10-10 is a misrepresented number in my opinion.

I can argue for an against, but you have to think he will continue to get better: One of his knocks at Kentucky was his attitude and it looks like that could still be a problem. Showing up to a playoff game 1 hour before tip.

I think Rondo is a luxury for the Celtics right now and they are right to do their homework on his value around the league compared to his value with the Celtics.

Jeff Clark has a great piece on CelticsBlog about Rondo possibly having an attitude problem. He backs up his assertions with quotes and a ton of research.

I've always been a HUGE Rondo fan, but Clark's piece is making me wonder.....

If his contract demands are too high - he will be traded. its not a matter of if but when. So its really up to Rondo if he wants to stay a Celtic or not. Perhaps he backed off his dollar figures and the Cs' are backing off on working him into trade scenarios.

It's like the Deon Branch thing. If he wants too much money you got to let him go no matter how "good" he is. I think attitude is somewhere down the list of problems. His only real on court problem (besides coasting against scrubs) is his craptastic J.
