Hornets are probably going to sell their pick

Post#1 » by cfan79 » Thu Jun 18, 2009 2:30 pm

I read on Espn that the Hornets may have to sell their pick. Is there anybody good that we could get at 21?

I know that Tyler Hansborough won't get passed Utah's pick at 20. For obvious reasons.

I see either Flynn or Teague droping down to at least 20 on draft night...so it could be worth taking a flyer on one of them if they are available.

Austin Daye
Omri Casspi
Maybe Earl Clark

Taj Gibson
Sam Young

Anyone Danny Picks not name Jr Giddens.

Danny should load up on picks if he can. He needs to acquire more assets for the 2010 offseason. I think we have a better chance of landing a Labron or Wade via trade than free agency.

Why is there so much LeBron or Wade type talks now? Yes they are FA's in 2010 blah blah blah... but chances are they STAY with their current teams, not walk out for worse situations. And there has been 0 talk about anyone coming to Boston.

If I were Bosh and Wade I'd want to be on another team. Toronto and Miami aren't going anywhere.

Right but do we really want Bosh? And I'd really like Wade on the team but I feel like we'd have to get a new PG cause that's just not enough outside shooting with Wade and Rondo (granted Rondo would probably be in a trade for Wade). All I'm saying is we'd be a very new look team and who knows how it ends up.

So if we buy the pick, then posey signing somewhere else, actually did help us. :D

Bosh will go for sure, and as a Canadian I say thank goodness for small miracles he'll be out of the country. That being said, I'd say that Miami and Toronto are pretty much in the same situation as Boston was before the RA and KG trades. Things can change around in a big hurry when you're accumulating assets.

And it seems everyone is interested in going to NY, where going nowhere has become a tradition.

IMO- Beasley was a dissappointment last year and I don't know that his make up and work ethic rival that of Al Jefferson before we traded him.

Toronto is seemingly in a worse situation than Miami. They don't have anyone outside of Bosh. That includes Calderon who I think is one of the most overrated players in the league. That is just my opinion of course.

Listen, if the Celtics are going to make a run at a championship next year as Danny says then chances are Rondo and Ray will be back. They will spend some money and retool the bench. If they are looking at the 2010 off-season then look for Rondo and Ray to be traded in some capacity.

KG and PP as your building blocks for a 2-3 year run starting the 2010-2011 season is nothing to scoff at. If they grag a high pick/marquee free agent we will quickly forget whatever happens next season.

Someone else brought up Terrence Williams, I think he might be the guy. I saw a segment On Demand where Gary Payton was training him.

I think Calderon was overrated by most last offseason. I think everyone knows he isnt really anything to get too crazy about now.

We really need to buy this pick. I know Danny wants to get into the first round one way or the other. This seems like the perfect option for that. Plus, It would be fairly ironic. Since the Hornets need to sell it to us because of them signing posey from us.

Sam Young would be good. He was a 4 year player at Pitt and could end up being a great player out out of the gate

I was a little down on Williams in that thread about him, but buying a pick to get him would be a pretty good move. The problem is that it sounds like he could go in the lottery.

OKC and the Blazer could be selling picks as well.

I say buy them all.

wow, that would be great. Hopefully the owners are willing to use their deep pockets and take advantage of other teams.

Correct me if I am wrong and I very well may be, but I think when we bought the pick for Rajon it was the 21st as well. Maybe some good karma for us in that slot. I like Austin Daye or Terrence Williams in that slot.
