Tony Allen on Rondo "He's a franchise player if you ask me"

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4281794ESPN decided to interview TA about the proposed Pistons deal. He said that Rondo just needs some guidance, to have someone take him under his wing. He alluded to Rondo having an attitude problem, but at the end of the interview said that he thinks Rondo is a franchise player.
This was yesterday, and the company line could have since changed.
As far as Rondo being a franchise player, I think he has the potential to be one, but not the type that wins championships.

During Rondo rookie year I happen to run into a couple of the Cs player at this local night club. I ask them about Rondo and they all said he a future all-star in this league. What was interesting to me was one of the players was also a pg on this team fighting for minutes with Rondo and he said Rondo would be an all-star. The kids has talent and like anyone little brother of coarse he gets on his older teammates and Doc nerves at time. But they those love the kid and as Paul Pierce and KG pointed out so many times this season the big three is not the big three it's the big 4 with Rondo. KG went as far to say the big 5 at one point. But all this stuff about Rondo being a problem child that stuff is false.

I am not sure Tony Allen should open his mouth about any trade rumors, whether it was a real offer, or shot down or just completely made up.
Frank Lucas, is there a reason why you didnt name the other player that said he'd be an all-star (the PG) ? My assumption was Delonte West, I was wondering if you could confirm or deny that guess.

Rondo has superstar skills but he needs to hone it with some BBIQ. We saw him pound the ball into the ground for 15 seconds during crucial times in playoff series' far too long. He doesn't get Ray Allen the ball until Doc calls a timout or play for it. Players come off picks relatively open and he doesn't move the ball as quickly as he should.
He's great when he's asked to create with the ball in his hands... much less so when he's asked to actually get an offense flowing. I'm not saying he cant.. just saying he needs to improve upon that.

RickyDizzle I will neither confirm nor deny your guess. Just do the math. Also I don't play the name game so that was my reason why I didn't name the players.

The term "Franchise Player" is too loosely thrown around. These are the franchise players in this league as of this second:
Lebron James
Kobe Bryant
Dwight Howard
Dwayne Wade
Chris Paul
Kevin Garnett
Dirk Novitski
these are the only guys in the league that you can put on ANY team and possibly make them a contender. all the other guys need a very strong supporting cast to even make the playoffs.
Rondo is not even close to being in the league of those guys above right now. notice i didn't list perrenial all stars like Pierce, Deron Williams, Carmello Anthony, Billups, etc. Again, not even close.

Rondo is a very good young player, let get that out of the way first off.
Tony Allen is an idiot. Not because I think he is wrong and not because I think he shouldn't have made a comment, but from watching him over the last few years. It is hard to believe out of the old team he is one of the very few to be left. The guy has some real God given talent but his BBall IQ and seemingly is regular IQ have shown to be quite low. Its almost a bad sign for Rondo to have Tony backing him! If I thought we could get anything for him I would be all for trading him (allen not rondo)

Then says...

A statement, if true in his opinion, would eliminate 71% of his list.
So I definitely agree with this...

Yeah not sure this bodes well for Rondo. Maybe they are both leaving in a package deal or something. Some crazy stuff going on in the land of the C's i tell you that..
This might lead to a "grasp on the team speech" from Ainge.
