About there being a 2010 scenario in which we could offer a MAX contract....Added to what Danny said today about Sign & Trades----Does anyone think we could sign Ray Allen to a One Year MAX deal (Bird rights--?), and trade him for the Player Wyc was kinda hinting about?....Possible, if the team losing their STAR player, wants something back??
I'm probably wrong--just speculating about how it could be done.

You could sign big baby to a 1 year max deal and ship him out. The other team gets out of there max palyer contract and gets BBD for one year and then he comes off the books. But it would be a Mona LIsa time heist if it occured.....intreguing scenario that the big boss alluded to....time will tell...

SIgn & Trades must be for a Minimum of Three Year Contract duration,
although only the first year has to be FULLY GUARANTEED.

Danny and Wyc are gonna have to do some Hocus Pocus stuff AFTER this coming season---in order to
snatch an elite player----or we're on our way to rebuilding.

What I think we need to understand is that this is a plan in flux. What Boston isn't going to do and can't do is close the door to the option of being an open arm welcome to LeBron, Wade, Bosh, or Amare if they need that home. It would be pretty dumb to close the door on that by extending Rondo, signing Big Baby or some end of the rotation FA to have them saying that Boston is really were they wanted to go.
It is only one way to do it not the only way. I think there are guys available in FA that if they would take the MLE that Boston would close the door on getting under the cap for and I am sure trades like the one with DET that would do the same thing.
The goal is to win another championship and then another and so on. Being and remaining a champion is really the only important thing.

Celts won't take any longterm salary unless they fell they can get rid of it soon, or, it is a high shelf talent.
Rondo isn't going to be resigned now. They will let him go restricted next offseason, may even renounce his rights to make an offer on one of the big guys.

Didn't the Mavs do something like this with Van Horn to get Jason Kidd?

my feeling is that dwane wade is the most probable of those four big names to hit the market. I know he and doc like each other. that's probably because of their marquette ties. But who cares. If they sign rondo for what he's asking for than wade is not an option.

I agree if there is one max contract guy that I think wants to be in Boston with Pierce and KG it is Wade.
More importantly if it is Wade then you can't have Rondo anymore, that is just one crappy ass shooting backcourt. You are going to need a 3pt shooter next to Wade.
Whether he is dealt or not Rondo is not likely to get an extension this off season unless it is a real team friendly deal.

Wade loves KG. He's mentioned twice how he wants to play with him. Once during our Finals run last year when he was doing ABC as a guest commentator at halftime and at the end of the game.
Wade also likes Doc. He would definitely love to play with those 3. So would Allen Iverson (as he has said). So would Chauncey Billups (KG's best friend after Tyrone Lue and Sam Mitchell).
But that doesn't make it all the more likely. Keep in mind that Wade hates the cold as much as any player. And Pat Riley has his ear more than anyone - their bond is so strong, I don't think Riley would allow Wade to come here. That's a big thing. But the Celtic mystique might be alluring, as well as the chance to cement himself as one of the greatest of all time, with the greatest franchise of all time.

I think the weather thing was a drop line in reference to the Knicks, Wade is just too slick to get caught up in that mess, expecially the dynamic between the Knicks and Heat, it would be like Boston or Philly player talking about playing for the other.
The kid is from Chicago and went to college in Milwaukee something tells me he can handle New England weather.
