Just saw this....me, personally, I think it was a dumb move by Cleveland.

What does this do to Big Z? Who's coming off the bench now, Shaq or Big Z? Big Z is the perfect center to compliment leBron b/c he can shoot from long range and not clog up the lane, which is where LeBron does most his work. Now he has Shaq down there drawing all kids of attention.

Could be an incredibly smart and effective move, but it could also be a stupid move (Which I'm pulling for). It's gonna be one of those, it's not going to be a move that keeps them where they are, it either makes them light years better or light years worse. This sucks tho b/c I kinda like Shaq, but now I have to hate him.

GO CELTICS!!!

I really don't like this move for Cleveland. Shaq will not help them, and, if anything, he may hurt them. They could have used those Wallace and Pavlovic contracts and buy-out willingness for something WAY more suited to their style of play.

Oh, and as for the Perkins comment, Hell yea he can guard Shaq. It's 2009, not 2000. Perk has been able to handle Shaq for a couple of years now.

This does make me wonder what we could get in trades, though. Seems like some pretty good players are coming on the cheap.

Cleveland will send Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to Phoenix for the future Hall of Famer. Sources said the Suns will also receive the 46th pick in Thursday's NBA draft and $500,000.

The trade gives the Cavs a player they've coveted since February. With center Zydrunas Ilgauskas starting to break down, adding Shaq to the roster gives them a dominant force in the middle. The Cavs were obviously unhappy with their ability to defend Dwight Howard in the playoffs and bringing Shaq into the fold should help.

For the Suns, the move is a straight salary dump. Pavlovic's $5 million dollar contract next season is only partially guaranteed for the amount of $1.5 million. Factor in the disparities in the contracts between Wallace, Pavlovic and Shaq and the team will save $4.5 million next season. However, when you factor in the savings they'll reap on the luxury tax, it will be closer to $10 million in savings. That savings can be amplified if Wallace decides to retire and the Suns buy him out of his contract for less than the $14 million he's owed next season.

The trade is a pretty strong admission by the Suns that the trade of Shawn Marion for Shaq in February of 2008 was a mistake. Marion was a free agent this summer and, had they let him walk, their savings would've been $21 million -- not the $5.5 million they're saving in this deal.

We should look to add another big. We needed to do that anyways but now ever more so. If we can get Amare or Bosh we could bring Perk off the bench and have him focus on Shaq when we play the cavs. A more realistic scenario is to bring in another cheap big to mix it up with shaq and Howard.

Perkins and Davis is about as good of a combo as ive seen against shaq, this may help them against some other teams but doesnt really hurt us much

wont do much for them in the regular season, will help them against dwight if that match up comes about again though

I think this takes the Cavs out of the running for Wallace. Both money wise and PT wise and for some reason I can't see Shaq and Wallace getting along.

The question is... will San Antonio's owners pay up to get Wallace? (now that they are paying their 'Big 4' big bucks)

For those who think a fixture in the post like Shaq doesn't go well with a dynamic, slashing wing player, I have two words:

Kobe
Wade

Of course this trade makes Cleveland better if it happens.

I'm just wondering if Shaq would even have anything left in the tank for the playoffs. He's a big boy, but isn't anywhere near what he used to be. He's actually a defensive liability nowadays, IMO. The Cavs do play at the slowest pace in the league, though, which would help him.

On a side note, I'm thinking that a buyout of Pavlovic would be a good thing for us. I actually like the guy, and think that he would be a good fit here. A solid defender with a decent outside shot who can run the floor. That hit all three major check marks for a supporting player in my book. He has decent size for a SG to boot, and is a better athlete than you would think. He would really benefit from playing with a PG like Rondo, and could probably be had for very reasonable money.

I wonder how Shaq will fare without the Suns training staff and nights off on back-to-backs. This could be a good deal for us.

All I'm gonna say is-----If you thought the NBA did everything they could to get a Kobe vs. LeBron Finals Matchup this past season----What do you think they're gonna do to make it Kobe vs. LeBron AND Shaq Finals NEXT season------?????????

Plus, Clev still has their MLE to get a GOOD vet---like Kidd, Marion, or somebody-!!!!

I don't expect Rondo to get traded but Allen I definitely see getting moved.
