Celtics inquire about #2 pick
http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entr ... 3/15738485
"* All has been quiet in Memphis, but it appears the Grizzlies remain open to trading the No. 2 pick. At least one Eastern Conference team that believes Tyreke Evans is the best of the point-guard crop is knocking on the door. This presents quite a conundrum for Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace, who knows that the franchise can't afford to have Evans -- a U of Memphis product -- to leave the city and go on to a star-studded NBA career.
UPDATE: Two people familiar with the situation told CBSSports.com that one of the teams inquiring about the No. 2 pick is the Celtics, who currently have no first-round picks. The notion was first floated Thursday in the Memphis Commercial-Appeal. Boston's target, the two people said, would be Evans, described by one of the sources as "a Danny Ainge type of player." The question, as mentioned above, is whether Memphis would be willing to risk Evans leaving the city where he played college ball and finding glory and championships in Boston. More developments coming on this one."

Re: Celtics inquire about #2 pick
nah **** this.... it would cost us a starter and give us a rookie
Evans seems like he could be a great player, but its championship time Danny... If Wallace turns down the Conley/Gay deal then hang up the phone and look elsewhere

Rondo is staying for 5yrs and 50 million and Perk (like Pierce) is a Celtic for life.

Why do I get this feeling that Evans equals Marcus Banks? I thought Evans isn't even a point guard.

Couldn't agree anymore with that. If there's nothing happening with the Conley/Gay - Rondo trade then there's absolutely no reason to give up a starter for a rookie. Might as well sign Rondo at 5yr/50mil.

Lol lets trade the "difficult" Rondo for the guy who drove the getaway car when his cousin murdered someone.

All I can say is I love Tyreke Evans I see a ton of LeBron in that kids game. He is 6'6" and has played pg his whole life, he may be a shoot first pg, but a pg.

If we had that back-court, we'd know who'd be driving, and who'd be calling the shots.

I always envisioned TA in the mentor role.

What if we aren't looking for the 2nd pick, but want Gasol with Conley and Gay in the deal. This would solve all our problems in one, and we would just have to find a PG till Conley develops.

I think that's wrong. He never played PG until Calipari moved him there halfway through the season.
One thing is for sure -- he would be an awful PG if you tried to start him there right now. Right now, he can only play SG. He may develop into a PG but if you put him there for 30 minutes it would be a nightmare.

I like this kid, but I don't see him as a PG. He is a scorer, perhaps in the D-Wade mold. I don't know, I am anti-rondo (or have become because of the fanboi's here), but, I don't see how a trade of Rondo essentially for Evans makes us better NEXT year. I guess we would have to sign Andre Miller or something.
But that's problematic too. Then, how could we get size in Sheed? I don't see it happening unless we get some size back.

The other way. He had never played off the ball till this season. That is why he went to Calipari and asked to go to the point and the season turned around. It isn't uncommon for a kid with his skill level to play pg on a High School or AAU team.

Tyreke Evans is well-know to be shoot first, shoot second, and shoot third.
I don't know. But somehow I know Ainge like this kind of guy.
