The Hornets look like they are trying to cut cost. They now have the highest payroll in the NBA. Who would interest you?

I'm telling you guys. If this sheed thing is true, and he signs here, and danny fills in the other pieces via FA. We are good. No reason to tinker around with the current team.

James Posey. Who else? Trade Scal, TA and the 2010 first round pick for him.

Aren't you worried about his injuries though? I think he just had a surgery done. I love the guy, but its a gamble if we traded for him.

Maybe they are in even more trouble by the trading deadline and we will have close to 30 mio in expiring to try and get Paul and some of their bad contracts...unlikely but we will see...

Oh god, if NO moves Paul they might as well just fold the franchise. Maybe a Chandler might be in play. They have a pretty dismal roster outside of Paul and West IMHO. I like Posey, but what a bust he was for them last year. I don't want to take back that garbage contract he signed with the Hornets..

Any trade without CP3 doesn't make any sense.

I really like Julian Wright. Have wanted him for a long time now. I was surprised that the Hornets did that Posey deal because of him being on the team. It just didn't make any sense. I think that him being a Jayhawk wouldn't hurt him here either, as Paul would take him under his wing. The kid has talent and looks like a player to me. They really don't have anyone else that I'm interested in, other than CP3.

Posey is one of my favorite players and without him, we would'nt have won the Title last season, but there's no way I would give up a first round pick for him. We don't hardly have enough 1st round picks let alone giving up another one for a declining bench player.
I don't get the Hornets. I don't see how they had such a good year two seasons ago. Their roster isn't even that great. CP3, Chandler, West, Peja, thats about it.
NO, Phx, Mil...those 3 teams seem to make decisions based off money more than winning this offseason. A lot of teams are trying, but these teams seem willing to give up talent for garbage.

I'm with you GreenDreamer, Julian Wright would be a really nice player to pick up. The only problem is he isn't being paid very much right now. The only way they'd want to trade a player like Wright is if he is traded with a bad contract. And I don't think we have the salaries to match up with a player like Chandler without really disrupting this team. If we do sign Sheed and Marbury, this team is a backup SF away from a very good chance at #18. I'd rather stand pat.

Well, the Suns have been doing that for a while now. I read a list of the talent that they flat out gave away over the last 6 years, and it was enough to make any fan ill. They could have won a Title if they kept even half of them. Case in point, we traded the Cleveland pick that we got from the Jiri Welsch trade for Rondo. They then sold that pick off, and it was used to draft Rudy Fernandez. Simply awful. They actually managed to give away two of the best young players in the league for a couple million dollars. The worst part is that this wasn't exceptional. They have been playing Sanat Claus to other teams for a while now.
I bet that Danny wishes that he just bought Rondo outright now, and drafted Rudy himself. He would sure be nice to have off of our bench. he couldn't know that such talent would be available that far down in the draft, though.

Yeah, I thought of that right after I submitted the post. The problem for them being able to dangle Wright is that they devalued him themselves by signing James and playing him over Julian. That signing was ll kinds of stupid, and I thought so at the time. What they really needed was either a high quality starting two guard, and they bring in Posey.

Peja's contract was already bad, but now Tyson Chandler's has joined it in the unproductive and untradeable ghetto. Hopefully for them CP3 is patient, because I don't see any team willing to take on either of them for anything but the least productive of expiring contracts.
If Ainge doesn't mind Posey being old and overpaid, I might pull the trigger on Giddens, Scabs and TA for Posey and Wright. We'd replace 1 project and two below-average rotation players with an above-average rotation player and another project for the addition of about 1 mil to this year's payroll.
It seems counter-intuitive given Ainge's previous unwillingness to commit the years to Posey, and I would certainly prefer to snag Grant Hill or even Jamario Moon for the LLE, but if the good FA 3s are demanding the MLE and the priority need at the 5, this would be a pretty good way to add two MLE players.

Even if it weren't a firesale, we'd overpay if we traded a future first in a Posey deal.
Scal+ TA for Posey is the money cost move.
Roster after
Rondo/Marbs
Ray Allen/ House
Pierce/ Posey/ Walker
KG/Sheed/ Posey
Perk/Sheed
bench fodder: Giddens, probuly another crap big like Moore for depth reasons.
we're lacking one big man. And in the wings one of Giddens/Walker would pick up the loose minutes. With Posey sliding down to PF probuly means Walker likely.
