OT: Cavs Going After Artest

According to several league sources, the Cavaliers have been been in contact with Ron Artest.

LeBron James met with Artest on Tuesday night, according to the report.

The Rockets have had interest in Cavs free agent Anderson Varejao in the past, which opens up some possibilities of a sign-and-trade scenario - though the Cavs have said they want to re-sign Varejao.

I'm pretty sure that the general consensus was that CLE wasn't going to stop once they acquired Shaq.
Everyone in BOS is anticipating this Sheed signing and our bench definitely has a need for Sheed.
Id like us to also sign Grant Hill with his experience but what about signing a more athletic and defensive 3 that can defend premiere SFs i.e. Lebron, etc?

What do you guys think?

I think if hes listening to MLE offers we need to make one, sure we wouldnt be able to get sheed but Artest is a serious player, could play positions all over the court for us and be a great weapon against Lebron

If they are sign and trading Verajao for him, not good news for us.. I would hate to see Artest with the Cavs, PP would have to deal with Lebron and Artest for 48 minutes a night in a series

Artest will not take the MLE and sign with Cleveland. Houston can offer him the most money. Sign and trade is also unlikely since they don't have anyone we're interested in.

The Celtics could offer a better package than the Cav's in a sign and trade scenario as could others.

Artest is a bad fit for the cavs. They'd be asking him to play the 2, which i no longer think he has the speed for. Also, he tends to want the ball in his hands to score and isnt as good when he's an "in the flow of the offense" spot up guy. Cleveland would be MUCh scarier with Michael Redd at the 2.

Hell, even DWest might be a better fit for them at the 2 than Artest.

Imagine Shaq and Artest in the locker room?? At practice??

I read somewhere the Cavs want a big small forward so they can give Lebron minutes at the 4?

I think Artest goes where the money is. If Cleveland gets Artest, we need Battier for expirings.

It's like an arms race in the Eastern conference

At least with the top 3 contending teams.

That would be scary. I'd actually play Bron at the 2. Extremely imposing. Their D would be sick.

this doesn't make any sense.

How the **** did I just read Turkeyglue might get a 10 mil offer from TOR.

And Artest is considering 5.5 mle offers from giants?

That's not how free agency is suppose to work.

CLE is suppose to have to just stick with re-signing Slide Show Bob and then even getting Big Baby Davis and that's it.

LA, should be choosing one of Odom or Ariza and that should be it. Maybe get someone like Grant Hill or Dahantay Jones to replace Ariza.

Ron Artest is a STAR, he should be getting 12/year offers.

Artest is crazy enough to sign a one year deal with LA for $5 million. He loves LA and seems to be a Kobe sycophant.

Ariza and Artest need to go any where else but: Orlando, LA, Cleveland.

I think Artest will go to LA. Lakers sign can him for MLE instead of Ariza for 7-8 mio. It makes sense...

Artest had the Gboard up in arms yesterday after he tricked them via twitter, that he signed with a club.

I called this last year. Not the cavs, but the lakers were going to sign artest, and the celtics were going to sign sheed. So far, that looks really plausible. While I understand celticsfans point about how artest could be making more money. Latley it has not been about the money. More and more players are ring chasers. Or just playing with your friends. I believe Artest and Kobe are kind of close. Sheed and Kg as we know, are close. It's gonna be fun though, if he does sign with LAL. Things could go awry.

Well, I just checked in the dictionary what awry means and I agree...

OTOH Jackson is a great coach, he knows how to deal with crazy players, so I think he would be able to control him...

Signing Artest would be great for LA. Better him for MLE than Ariza for 7-8 million per year...

can i get a link for that? that's a twitter feed that i wouldn't mind following. Starbury's has been pretty boring, and he's usually pretty entertaining.
