I like it, it seems to help each team. Boston needs a bench, Detroit needs a center and Clippers need to do something.

Pass.

On this team:
Rap > Rip
Rondo >>> Baron
TA, Scal, Giddens > Al Thorton, Jason Maxiell (I think we can net something that would be a much better fit than a talent like Al Thorton with these players. Al Thorton is a solid scorer but that's about it. He doesn't play a lick of defense.)

Shirley you can't be serious. Thornton and Maxiell are rotation players who actually change a game. Tony is a shell of himself before the injuries, Scala is a decent, but very deep bench player and Giddens hasn't shown diddily squat. Put on list that Rip is slightly better then Ray and Baron's a better defender then Rondo and you have a slam dunk.

I am not saying Thornton and Maxiell are not good players. Actually as you may or may not have noticed I didn't really include any explanation on Maxiell on my reasoning for not wanting to do this trade. He would be solid for us in that Leon type role. However, Al Thornton would be strictly a SF if we have Maxiell at PF and assuming we do land Sheed as well. Is Al Thorton, a young player who has been letting shots fly in LA, really going to be happy playing limited minutes behind Pierce? I doubt it. Obviously I am not (Please Use More Appropriate Word), I did not mean TA, Scal, Giddens > Al Thornton, Jason Maxiell in terms of talent. Just fit. And I think we can find someone that will fit better than Al but that is obviously just my opinion.

Ray and Rip is arguable. It just goes to preference and the fact is, we won a championship already with Ray. We know that works. Why change it just for the sake of completing this trade?

And Baron is absolutely NOT a better defender than Rondo. Are you kidding me? Most people outside of Boston Celtic fans HATE Rondo, but will still say he is easily one of the best defenders at his position in the game. We've seen the stories that also say that Rondo has the ability to turn down Paul, Ray, or Garnett when they demand for the ball. You know what I will give Baron that much. He will probably do the same. He will turn down the Big 3 in favor of his own shot. I actually really like Baron Davis but he is a CHUCKER in every sense of the word. He is a terrible fit on the C's. Rondo is still very, young and still improving. Baron Davis is injury prone and just looking for a paycheck at this point.

From a talent standpoint, not bad. From a standpoint in terms of fit on our team, awful.

Everybody keeps saying I'm crazy. Even my father who keeps saying I shouldn't be walking around the house naked. But I'm right on this one. Baron cannot pass or rebound like Rondo, but he's a much better defender and scorer. His contract does bother me, but he's a solid starter who would allow others to be more open.

Baron is a better defender than Rondo? Uhhh... no. He can play great defense when he wants to (which isn't often) and if his knee is OK with it, but he isn't on Rondo's level. In addition to that his contract is an abomination and he is a complete chucker. The "ugrade" over Rondo is a guy who shot worse from the arc and midrange than Rondo did, but who didn't let that stop him from shooting. He is also at his best in a frenetic uptempo game... which is what we don't do here. Terrible.

I actually like Rip and Jason, and would like to have them here, I just don't see them shipping them out for an injury prone center and flotsam. It wouldn't eb good business. I would do Ray staright up for that, possibly, but no Rondo.

Thornton is garbage. He's very talented, but he is also very selfish and dumb, at least concerning the game of basketball. Talent often gets confused with "good". He isn't good, he's a no defense playing chucker who can't hit from the perimeter. He isn't worth it. I'd be willing to get him on for much less going out, hoping that good coaching and serious vets around him could get him to come around, but simply looking at a guy's ppg is a poor way to evaluate a player. He was considered the most selfish player on that Clipper team last season. That is saying something.

Exactly. This trade would not make us better at all. We'd be talented still, but not better.
