How to keep up with the Lakers
If the Lakers resign Odom they will be impossible to beat unless we match their moves. How do we do that?:
1. Guarantee Wallace comes here. That means sign Big Baby to 4 million a year and trade him and Scal to Detroit for Wallace who would be signed to 2 years 15 million, assuming such a sign and trade is allowable.
2. Use the MLE to get Shaun Marion or Lue and McDyess for example.
LA with the signing of Artest is already nearly 10 million over cap and plans to try to keep Odom. Cleveland still has its MLE and also has Big Z's expiring contract at trading deadline. San Antonio has 4 stars and still has its MLE.
Even if we resign Wallace and Big Baby that NOT might be enough.

"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Re: How to keep up with the Lakers
Number 1 sounds very plausible. Detroit seems like they want to get something for their departing starters Sheed and Rip.
Number 2 doesn't though. I'd pitch a tent if we could get Marion, but it doesn't seem likely. If I were the owner I'd spend as much as possible to make it happen though.

Is number 1 possible? Detroit has to renounce the rights to AI and Wallace to sign Gordon and Villanueva. They haven't been officially signed yet, so a trade could happen before signing, but if they trade for Big Baby would they have the cap space to still sign those two?

Your first point doesnt make sense Detroit isnt going to sign Wallace it is between Boston Cleveland San Antonio and Orlando so we don't need to trade for Wallace we just need to sign him and we will still be able to sign Big Baby and Possible swingman Annthony Parker.

I like that trade. Plus we can spend the money we were using for the small forward on a guard. Slim pickings out there though. Pargo???

+1. I would really like Posey back, or Noc if people are more comfortable with the younger player. Shane would be nice too.
Hopefully Steph changes his mind, but if not, really we are all just hoping he will improve with the training camp under his belt but who knows? And if he doesn't, with the LLE, use it on the PG and everyone is right, very slim pickings right now. I say we save it and give Pruitt/Hudson/Eddie their chances at backup PG and see how effective that is. If it works, great. If not, we'll probably find a lot of the same types of players like we found Steph last year in the middle of the year.

Boston has to get bigger and meaner. Although LA just got a lot more physical with Artest, they still have a finesse group underneath with Gasol, Odom and Bynum... Adding Wallace and getting back Posey would give Boston a major edge underneath..

**** the Lakers, I'm not afraid of them. Ron Artest is mildly (Please Use More Appropriate Word) anyways.

Boston couldn't kick them last year so what makes you think they can now?
KG was healthy last year and still lost both times. Boston is another year older and the best they can do is sign Wallace who is applying for his AARP card?
Window is now closed.

Games during the season don't mean ****. Orlando beat LA both times during the season. Boston would have dominated the Lakers in the Garden just like they did last year.

That's just silly talk. Games against each other means more than just another game. Are you saying that Boston didn't try their best to beat LA? Or, are you saying that it means more for LA to win than it does for Boston? Either way, Boston was the best team 2 years ago, and the Lakers were the best last year. Proofs in the pudding. Let's see what happens this year.

The Posey contract is awful. The Hornets shouldn't have offered him teh fourth year and didn't need him anyways. I like James, but that deal he has is a bad one. The Hornets are already regretting it, big time, and so would we.

That's what I was wondering, too. If the Pistons really want Baby, and Wallace would want to come here, then such a deal would be great, it is was financially doable. Being able to get Rasheed AND Marion would be a dream scenario. Doing a sign and trade with Baby would certainly be great if it got us both guys.

Me too. I I've read they're trying to swing a deal of Gordon for Iverson with Chicago, which would give them ample cap space..

To keep up with the Devil you have to buy some souls. I don't care if we don't have any young guys or flexability in the future. The time to win is now. Lakers and Yankees have been buying people for years. That's what you have to do to win.

The difference is Orlando caught LA on a Back to Back and both games was pretty close. LA beat Boston in their House after playing a game the night before. The Lakers are not the same team yall faced in the finals just like Boston aint the same team.

They were both games that came down to the final few possessions and we Celtic fans are still bitter about the BS foul that knocked KG out of the 2nd game. I hardly believe those games demonstrate Laker superiority.
I'm less worried about the Lakers (I think Artest for Ariza is a lateral move: more points, less efficiency, more assists, more turnovers, better on-ball defense, less off-ball impact) than I am about San Antonio or Orlando if they snag McDyess. Both those teams are a good 4 away from rising to the top of the list.
The Lakers are up there with us already, but they don't really have the resources to address their need of an alternate for Fisher and bench help at the wing spots. The Celtics top 6 already match the Lakers, but we at least have the resources to fill in some of our weaknesses.

Wrong the road game was close and you failed to mention that the Lakers was Bynum less and had Walton as a starter

How is it lateral when you say our defense gets better? On top of that Ron hits 3s @ 40% We lose nothing in offense.

lol dude shannon brown is a alternate you need one for Rondo off the bench. Help at wings spots?
