Interesting article from Mark Murphy in the Herald.

Smart move by the higher-ups involving Rondo as an instructor, and kudos to Rondo for flying to Orlando to do it.

"And now he gets to feel what a coach feels, including the frustration.

You might say that he now understands why Doc Rivers can get discouraged when what gets called in the huddle doesn’t get carried out on the floor.

“It’s frustrating when you call for something and the guys go out and turn the ball over,” Rondo said.

“But it’s only two days, and the guys are coming from different teams and systems, so it’s hard. But I’m cool. I get to look at things and learn the coach’s perspective.”

I've never heard of that happening before. I guess its a good way to make Rondo even more verbal to teammates.

And more respectful of what Doc asks for him.

And a 'junior' way to involve him in management the way they already solicit the views of the Big Three.

Awesome move by management and Rondo. This is a creative way to come up with a new way to try to get through to Rondo. Putting him in the coaches seat could potentially open his eyes and really get him to have a better working relationship with Doc and the rest of the coaching staff. And you have to give Rondo credit where credit is due. He could've easily said no to this and created more distance between him and the coaching staff/front office but I think he's finally taking some of this offseason talk about his attitude to heart and is trying to show he can be a part of this team now and post Big 3. Maybe nothing will come of this, but I see nothing but good things to come of this for Rondo and for the team.

His story seems to be "Yeah, I'm a bit immature, but it's way overblown. I'll be fine."

I can live with that. He IS young, after all.
