We should just go ahead and re-sign him now to a cheap contract so no other teams can grab him...and you better believe that other teams will grab him up before he gets healthy.

Sign him to a cheap contract and tell him it's only a cheap contract til he proves he can play healthy at a high level then extend him for bigger money. It's not that hard. If we dont re-sign him, I could see him killing us if he signs with another team. He's one of my favorite players in the entire league and I'd hate to see him go to SA, CLE or ORL. He'd prolly sign with GS though.

The problem with WAITING is other teams have already been contacting him from what I've read, including the Heat. If we wait past the first game of the regular season, I guarantee he'll already be on with another team.

Yes, I do think other teams will sign him before he's totally healthy. It's not like it's never happened before.

Powe is still very young and when he does play, he's proven he's our best player off the bench and could easily start on another team. Why shouldn't a team like GS or Miami sign him?

I'm just saying I've already heard other teams have already contacted him. Maybe they were just asking how he was doing and that they are interested when he's actually healthy, if that's the case then great. But I really hope, first off, he gets healthy again so he can play anywhere, and secondly, he comes back to Boston.

This isn't about the money, it is about the roster spot. If they could keep him without using a roster spot, I am sure they would do it, but you cannot. This team cannot afford to use a spot for a guy who will not be 100% until the 2010/2011 season.

We got shown last year how important it is to have a healthy big rotation. I want Powe back and I think he'd be the ideal 4th big for this team, but as last year showed, that 4th big is too important to not be able to get in the game for a long amount of time. I hope we can bring him back, but I'd like to see him get a better opportunity with another team.

keep in mind that powe is aiming to be back around mid-season. that means he probably wouldn't get back to 100% physically, mentally etc until the end of the year at the earliest and on a team like the celtics with sheed now, he probably wouldn't get the minutes to do that.

this is probably just a lost year for powe. he'll be back, but i wouldn't even expect anything out of him until next season. any team that signs him will probably take this approach, so it's unlikely he gets signed anywhere before dec-feb period of this season at the earliest. let's re-evaluate then.

i'm 100% confident powe will be back in the nba by next season and will make a decent amount of money over his career. so i'm not crying for him. i would like to see him back on the celtics though, but that just might not be in the cards.
