Ot- Odom to Portland rumor

I just heard this on TV. I hope it happens because it would really hurt one of our competitors. Lakers won't have much of a bench if it goes down.

It won't happen. Lakers will match a 10 mil offer for three years. It would take an insane offer, like 50 mil over 5 years to stop the lakers from signing and Portland won't give 50 mil to a backup. (Odom cannot play SF and I think KP is smart enough to realize that)

I guess it all depends on how much Portland is willing to pay. I doubt they would over spend unless they feel he's the missing piece. But I doubt he's that.

Ya, that's the thing. Odom plays starter minutes and finishes the games for LA, i would think that's better than just hearing your name called on the PA during introductions.

The only thing I'd disagree with is Odom not potentially being the missing piece for Portland but ONLY IF they view Oden as their bread and butter inside. Aldridge is a very nice player who's likely capable of playing some minutes at Center and Odom is capable of playing some minutes at SF. So they would have flexibility to a certain extent.

But a team with Roy, Odom, Aldridge and Oden is capable of going all the way to the Championship, especially when you consider how much it would weaken LAL.

I personally look at Odom as a player who impacts games on the same level as a Turkoglu. Sure Turk fits better at the SF spot and with Odom you have to do a bit of shuffling but he could make a tremendous impact for the Blazers.

Now I don't really see the Blazers offering a ton of money for a guy who you're going to have to work your roster around for but I wouldn't dismiss the idea outright. Odom would be a high impact player on a young team like Portland.

I think he adds another playmaker outside the PG position.

That would be great. It would definitely take an over-the-top offer, but maybe they'd be willing to give him the same deal they gave Turk. It would be overpaying, but that's what it would take, and Paul Allen has already shown that he doesn't care about $$s.

It really is :D

In the end I think he'll resign with the Lakers. They are the champs and they are probably going to offer him plenty of $ and candy too.

Portland offered Turk 5 & 50, so a similar deal's possible. *Awaits LA fan saying Odom's not worth 5 & 50, although he's much better than Turk*

Ya since LA has the best EYE CANDY........... But he will sign with LA thats why I dont even post about LO and his FA going anywhere but LA.
LO is a down arse person, not even as a baller but a person. I have had the pleasure of meeting him many times as well as partying with him and he is all heart, unlike Ariza. So when I see all these threads about LO being sought out by other teams I take with a grain of salt. L.O has already stated he wants to retire as a Laker, he has already said he will take less money and he is VERY VERY GOOD FRIENDS with Artest and that is one of the main reasons Artest decided to come to LA. I mean LO is a huge part of LA and he brings a lot to this team in everyway possible, so I really dont see him going anywhere but staying in LA.

But your still a JOKER............... In a good way.

Tony,

If Lamar's offered 5 years, do you think Buss will counter with something similar? I've read LA's offer is 3 years... It will be hard for Lamar to walk away from 5 years. He has a ring already, unlike Artest, and he's sane, unlike Artest. :D

I hope he goes to Portland, but then we'd have to add another team to the elite 5 of Boston, SA, LAL, Orl and Clevland. Oh well, as long as odom's not in LA, i'll be happy.

I think if Odom leaves, they'll be worse off than before. Odom AND Ariza>>>>Artest.

BUT if they keep Odom, then wow.

well....Powe + Big Baby >> Rasheed.....so, Danny better keep Baby...we cannot afford to lose both him and Powe.

They don't have any center that they are sure will start. Oden is struggling and as of now, Pryzbilla is starting at C. They could play Aldridge at C and Odom at PF.

The Lakers can't "match" anything, technically.

Lamar is unrestricted.

Rasheed is better then Baby and Powe combined. Not only has he got the height over them, he's also a veteran who was crucial in Detroit's title win in 04.
