Our roster situation for next year.
Guaranteed contracts that are unlikely to be moved:
1. Rajon Rondo
2. Ray Allen
3. Paul Pierce
4. Kevin Garnett
5. Kendrick Perkins
6. Eddie House
Guaranteed contracts that have little role with the team, but could be moved easily in a deal as filler:
7. Brian Scalabrine
8. Tony Allen
Guaranteed, cheap contracts/prospects that could be cut or used in a deal as a small asset:
9. Gabe Pruitt
10. JR Giddens
11. Bill Walker
Likely free agent signings:
12. Rasheed Wallace
13. Grant Hill
I bring this up because we basically only have two roster spots left and you could argue one of those is reserved for Lester Hudson. Even without that, that's still only two spots to cover our remaining holes or say bring back BBD, Powe, Starbury, or use on other free agents that could make an impact, such as Joe Smith or Tyronn Lue, both who've had their names tossed around.
I know this topic doesn't serve much purpose, but I'm bringing it up as a reminder that we're really pressed for roster spots at this point and can't afford to take flyers on random prospects like Fazekas or Swift or to rehab Powe unless we really feel they can contribute at some point or if another move is made.

I'd be shocked if another move isn't made by the time rosters have to be trimmed to 15.
Which, IIRC, is a long ways away.

If anything I think we might do what we did last year, which was go in with 15 and make moves to trim spots near the deadline. Personally I'm hoping we at least condense Scal/TA into one player, but for now, I doubt we make a trade instead of a cut to create a spot for anyone.

Pruitt is guaranteed? Have the Cs picked up his option? I didn't see that.

Re: Our roster situation for next year.
This is the off-season I would like:
Sign Hill
re-sign BBD
re-sign Starbury
re-sign Powe (Beastliness outweighs the injury)
TRADE Scal and Tony Allen for a bag of fresh basketballs right from the vine
More likely off-season:
Sign Hill (same)
re-sign BBD (same, we can't let him go)
Sign Lue
TRADE Scal and TA for half a bag of popped, deflated volleyballs
15 man Roster:
1. Rondo
2. Ray Ray
3. Pierce
4. Garnett
5. Perkins
6. Sheed
7. House
8. Hill
9. BBD
10. Lue/Starbury
11. Walker
12. Pruitt
13. Giddens
14. Hudson
15. Powe?

Re: Our roster situation for next year.
So you think we are carrying our last 7 guys all under 6'8"? Why would Danny do that? Look for one or two seven foot stiffs to make our team. The purpose of the last 6 slots is to provide depth. What if a big gets hurt? You wants some guy on the roster who knows the system who can step in for one of those bigs.
I think either Swift or Fazekas will make the team - maybe both or perhaps another min big Danny has his eyes on. Either way we will be getting one or two seven footers to round out the roster..
I think Pruitt is so gone. Hudson will beat him out. I don't know if he is better or not but he plays more like a man.

1. Rondo

3. Pierce
4. Garnett
5. Perkins
6. Sheed
7. House
8. Hill
I think we all pretty much agree on this much. After that it gets interesting..
9. PG Either Lue or some guy we trade for like a Hinrich
10. Walker or Giddens (but not both)
11. Sweetney (BBD replacement)
12. Hudson
13. Fazekas (Scalarbrine replacement)
14. Swift (POB replacement)
15. Empty (reserved for late season pickups or acquisitions)
So I see Scalabrine/TA/Giddens or Walker being moved.. and a few scrubs making the team. Notice how my 10 - 14 guys form a whole team. Yes a crappy team but it gives you depth which is the idea of your deep bench.

Re: Our roster situation for next year.
Agreed on Pruitt, Pete. His contract is not guaranteed, so there is a team option that needs to be picked up by August 25th or somewhere around there and I expect it to be declined.
I think Big Baby is very likely gone. He'll be back if there are no offer sheets and all he's getting is the qualifying offer, but that's about it. KG/Perk/Sheed are all going to eat up starters minutes and the 4th big will not have room for more than 8 minutes a game or so. They'll go to someone like Scal or maybe a Joe Smith minimum type money guy if Scal/TA are dealt for a backup guard. Baby will be pissed about playing so few minutes in a contract year where as a vet like Scal/Joe Smith will understand it and accept their role more than a young guy looking for his pay day.
I'm hoping for a Scal/TA/1st round pick or Big Baby for Barbosa type deal personally. Barbosa/House/G.Hill/Joe Smith or whatever vet minimum big who will take short minutes/Sheed would be a truly incredible bench.

Re: Our roster situation for next year.
I don't think Scal & Tony will get traded yet. There is no market for them and 2 for 1 trades (which is what we have in mind) aren't in your favour as the other teams are trimming for roster spots as well.
We will cut Pruitt and sign a big and a pg and maybe Hudson (granted we get G. Hill). No trades until early midseason...

The team can just waive some of these guys if that's a problem. They would be doing it for the money as both those guys are expiring. Money is an issue. The Obama spend money to make money plan is failing. Plus Giddens and Walker do have some talent. So its a good deal all around for most teams.

Re: Our roster situation for next year.
Our more probable rotation next season:
Rondo / Lue
Allen / House
Pierce / Hill / Giddens
KG / Wallace / Powe
Perkins / Wallace
The rotation i'd like to see:
Rondo / Marbury (I think Marbury will be alot better after traning camp. He can also play the SG position .. he is easily one of the better backups in the league at PG)
Allen / House
Pierce / CJ Miles / Giddens (I rather have a young backup at SF, someone who can score, go one on one, and will stick around for acouple yrs ... Miles and Giddens can be the young tandom to give Pierce some rest on the bench)
KG / BBD (BBD proved to be dependable during las tyrs playoff run, hes tough and is developing a consistent jump shot ... he out-hustles everyone hes put up against)
Perkins / Wallace
Rondo / Lue
Allen / House
Pierce / Hill / Giddens
KG / Wallace / Powe
Perkins / Wallace

Re: Our roster situation for next year.
From everything I understand Pruitt is guaranteed.
Right now we have under contract and in the rotation (assuming Sheed)
1. Rondo
2. Ray Ray
3. Pierce
4. Garnett
5. Perkins
6. Sheed
7. House
In order of money owed
8. Scalabrine
9. TA
10 . Giddens
11. Pruitt
12. Walker
I think they will add one more veteran FA be it Hill or a pg like Lue and then ride it out with Big Baby, if they let him go then they will add a FA big man for the minimum.
The question comes down to Hudson with the 15 spot. Makes the team, goes to Europe, or gets cut. I know everyone thinks he is going to be a 3 time All Star but the reality is he was the 58th pick in the draft. To cut Pruitt and sign Hudson will cost an additional $900,000 in salary and taxes.
I don't see Boston waiving anyone who has a guaranteed contract especially an expiring one. They need those contracts to make a trade if comes up. Teams will have to move contracts and there will be very few takers.

Well that would be some good news to be honest, I like Gabe but 30% is what it is. I thought that CSNE said his contract was guaranteed, it is also not listed as an option at a couple of other site or in the original article reporting his contract. I thought they had some flexibility but I was thinking it was a situation were they had to waive him last season or this year became guaranteed.
