Backup 3 & Hills Interest In Playing For The Knicks

Grant Hill spent the day with the Knicks and said he is "very serious" about the possibility of signing with the team.

"I've always been a fan of the Knicks and the city," Hill said. "Obviously, they've gone through a lot the last few years, but I'm a big fan of Donnie Walsh and Mike D'Antoni, so I'm definitely interested. I'm just taking it all in."

D'Antoni spoke about what Hill may be able to bring to the Knicks.

"Yes, he's going to be 37 and you don't know when he's going to hit the wall, but he hasn't hit the wall yet," D'Antoni said. "If he was 25, we couldn't get him anyway."

If he does decide to sign with the Knicks, who else can we go after?
Is Marion still even a possibility?

Nah, Marion is out of the equation with our MLE gone and toronto not wanting to take salary back..

Though, on the marion thing, apparnetly dallas is interested and would trade stackhouse, who if bought out would save them about 4 mil (so id assume its likely), and might come accross to us after that

Barnes and Daniels are the 2 i would target if Hill goes elsewhere

Like I posted in the other Grant Hill thread:

Grant Hill is in New York at a prescheduled meeting. What do you want Grant Hill to say? I have no interest in New York I came for the free dinner. When in Rome (New York)......

yep... and with only a year or maybe 2 left in his career, surely the lure of a championship is more than one of what, finishing off in a big city? putting up stats... or ... something??

If it's not about the money, why even go visit the Knicks? They're not winning anything anytime soon and they don't even pretend to be contenders.

If Hill really goes to NY, then we know he has completely lost his mind or never really cared about a ring. I mean come on, the Knicks? LOL. I've never heard anything so crazy in my life.

The man has made a fortune in his career, if he signs for a few extra million instead of a ring, NUTJOB..

I'm pretty sure NY can offer 2-3x more than Celtics, so if money is priority for Hill (its not like he has many years left...), I could understand that. If he wants to win, Knicks would be the last place to join, so it all depends on priorities.

True. They can offer a full MLE.

Money is a motivator no doubt.. with the extra money he'd make going to NY he could probably ask to buy one of B. Russells :D

or.. just come to his senses and join a contender and earn it.

I think the "i am a big fan of Donnie Walsh and Mike D'Antoni" says it all. Times are real tough for the Knicks with them about to lose Lee for probably nothing because they want to keep their cap space, and them stuggling to be relevant. I could see them just asking Grant to come to town and do a very public FA visit even though it isn't likely to be his stop. But I don't see how it makes sense for him to sign there and Gary Tanguay said it was a done deal, so there.

hILL CRACKS ME UP GOING OUT OF HIS WAY TO NOT WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP. MAYBE HE HAS A FEAR OF SUCCESS.

I think he's still coming here, but this still makes me nervous. Come to Boston, Grant!

I will be surprised if he ends up in NY. I expect him to be in green. He'll get less time in NY and they won't be able to contend where it's virtually the opposite in Boston.

question, besides wanting to get overpaid to not have to perform at any type of high lvl, why would anyone want to sign with the knicks?

On top of that......I have no idea why NY is making the pitch for him at this point in time....

I highly doubt Grant Hill will end up in NY, unless he is concerned with more money and playing time (starting role) ... But personally, I am not too overly excited about him playing backup to Pierce. Celtics need a younger, more agile player to back Pierce up and come off the bench. But I guess, with limited options, Hill can get the job done for now, hoping that he stays healthy over the course of the season and can provide some quality rest for Pierce and Allen; especially towards the end of the season.

Our latest, most realistic roster:
Rondo / Lue
Allen / House
Pierce / Hill / Giddens
KG / Sheed / Scalabrine / Powe
Perkins / Sheed

I still believe we need some more youth in the lineup. Hopefully Giddens can get a chance to perform this year.

Well sub out Powe, and put in Walker because even if we do end up with Powe he is injured for most of the year. There's more youth right there.

My guess is that we wont keep both Giddens and Walker (only a guess) since they both play similair positions, and DA will choose the one who is more impressive this summer, and shows the most potential. And also, by youth, i mean proven youth. A young backup who has proven he can score and be effective, and contribute within a second unit. Our only youth cant be 2 second yr players who, combined, have barely played 200 NBA minutes ...

To have Lue and House as our backups at teh guard spots is completely unacceptable. This cannot happen if this team expects to win a Title. Guaranteed loss, IMO.

If Lue actually comes here, then Eddie needs to go. No questions, just adios muchacho
