We should S&T Baby for Marion

Someone pointed this out and I agree with it. We've got a bunch of expiring contracts as well to offer them. Marion can play 2 or 3 positions off the bench for us. Who is it on our team that has to agree with being traded? Tony???

KG or Pierce, if I remember correctly, as part of the terms of their last contract.

And the word is the Raptors "want something" for Marion but don't want to take back salary.
Do the Spurs have a trade exception? Boston could threaten to match an offer for Davis unless SA gives up a pick to Toronto... BBD to SA, 1st Rounder to Toronto, Marion to Boston. Sure, let's do it.

I much rather have Davis then trade for Marion.

Yeah this is one of those ideas that sounds good and then you realize it completely silly. Why pay Shawn Marion 50 million bucks for the next 5 years instead of paying Big Baby 25 mil?
The only scenario that makes sense is for Big Baby, Scal, TA to go to ORL, Hedo to TOR, Marion to BOS. Of course ORL said they are not interested in doing a S&T for Hedo.

And then we should trade Marion for Lebon, I love the idea but I just dont think its possible

I've heard this as well. What does this even mean? I don't get how they can not receive salary back AND get "something", unless it means a pick...?

Baby for Bonner! Make it happen Danny! He's a great 4th big with range.

Isn't Scal a little redundant. Unless of course he is packaged in a trade. I am always a fan of bringing in hometown type guys though.

Yea, Scal prob gets moved this summer or at the deadline, so we take a preemptive strike and get his replacement in here. And I personally would rather Bonner.
I'm just assuming none of the sl guys stick though, but I might be wrong.

Marion is trash who thinks he's better than he really is because he put up good numbers playing with Nash. But you'll never win anything with him on your team. Just remember how great or not that Suns team was before Nash got there and you'll see Marion for what he really is. Trash with a capital T.

Marion was the same player before Nash got there no big surprise they are better team with Nash and a developed
Amare is it? But the reality is I don't think he is the same player anymore.

Expirings plus a good young cheap player - in a sense, Minnesota didn't take on salary in the KG trade until they extened Al.

Didn't they want to deal him for Stackhouse cause his whole contract isn't guaranteed meaning TOR would end up saving a few mil?

For real. People are acting like we can just force Big Baby to agree to a contract with whatever team we choose, so we can sign-and-trade him there.
Also, people don't seem to get the math that x + y - y = x
That signing and trading a guy for expirings doesn't cut salary, and in face adds salary in the short term.
Sign-and-trades really bring out the silliest ideas - I remember people thinking Seattle should get the #5 pick from is in a sign-and-trade for Rashard Lewis.
Nobody realizes that a lot of complicated factors need to come together for a sign and trade to happen. The player basically has to agree to a free agent contract somewhere; and there has to be some leverage for both teams to want to do it -
It all has to do with whether the original team wants to call the FA's bluff that they will go elsewhere with nothing in return if a sign and trade is not facilitated.
Sometimes there's a situation like Antoine, the destination team doesn't have cap room, but the original team doesn't want to keep the guy so there's no reason for them to call the bluff.
Sometimes like Rashard Lewis, the destination team has cap room anyway, so it's really plausible the guy will sign there anyway - so the team folds and facilitates a slightly bigger deal in a S&T.
Sometimes with a RFA like Joe Johnson, there's a thin line between whether the team wants to match the deal or not - I suppose that could happen with Big Baby.
But I think if Dwyane Wade comes out and wants a sign and trade to Boston...Miami won't do him a favor - they'll say, no, if you want the biggest salary stay in Miami, if not feel free to sign with the Knicks or Grizzlies or some other less desirable team with cap room. I think they'd rather call his bluff than get a year or two of Ray at max salary as a small consolation.

Marion just dealt to DAllas. Memphis helped out by taking Stackhouse and cash.
