Lester Hudson Breaks Finger

Post#1 » by jarrettjackfan » Thu Jul 9, 2009 12:40 am

Rookie Lester Hudson suffered a broken left index finger in a summer league game on Wednesday.
No timetable for his return yet, but it sounds like we probably won't see him again until training camp, at best.

That's bad luck for both the Celtics and Hudson. He's trying to make the team, and then he gets hurt, and for the C's they don't know what he can really do, so they are stuck with either cutting him and maybe regretting it, or keeping him then just turning around and cutting him if he doesn't make the team.

he would have had to really impress to make the team, and i think they were going to give him every chance to do so... but looks like he will miss out now

hope this doesnt mean we are stuck with Pruitt and TA

Is there any realistic way they can not sign him and keep his rights?

If he agrees to go to Europe for a year which I think is a pretty good possibility.

This kid has been through tougher things than a broken finger, don't count him out yet.

Bad luck for the kid, but he should still have one more chance to impress. He ought to at least get an invite to camp this fall.

Teams aren't obligated to sign a second round pick. I wouldn't think so unless you apply that in good faith rule of thinking here.

Walker and Giddens are already under contract for next season. While Ainge could possibly decide not to pickup the team option on Pruitt's contract and allow him to become a free agent next month. And I don't think any players from Boston's summer league team is making their case yet to take Hudson's roster spot. Would Swift get signed for his height and fouls? What about Karl for his perimeter shooting?

I don't think Ainge will not sign Hudson. However, having another roster spot freed up could help if a trade scenario came up.

I think that Swift has a chance to be signed as our 3rd C or at least given the chance to compete for the spot during training camp.

I think Pruitt will make the team over Hudson. Hudson would have to kick some serious ass during training camp and preseason. Otherwise they try and send him to europe.

That's horrible luck for him. He probably wasn't gonna make the team anyway, but now...

This sucks. At least it was his on his left hand, though.

Lester looked like the best defender in the entire summer league, too. Sad.

Damn. I hope Ainge gives him a shot anyways. Not sure how tho. We have to pick up Pruitt's option now.

He will be out probably 6-8 weeks. Most players don't make a team based on how they play in SL. Hudson should be back by early Sept., in time for training camp.

I think they find a place on the roster for Hudson, but he spends a few months if not the year up in Maine.
