S&T big baby

If i was danny I would sign and trade baby to Portland for travis outlaw
it gives portland the ability to keep there cap space while adding the backup power forward they need and frees up some of the clutter they have at the wing spot
it gives the celtics a guy who can backup pierce and allen, who is 6'8, plays solid d, and can shoot the three
then we resign powe and add another post for insurance, maybe someone off the summer league team and we are golden

Celtic FO has no intentions of wasting a roster spot on Powe until he fully recuperates.

Hornets are supposedly interested in S&T
http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball ... _free.htmli'm sure the posey piners will want to get him back, but i can't see adding that contract to our already bloated payroll. rasual butler might work salary-wise.

Butler has a much better contract and is a good shooter, but he's a pretty scrawny.

who else besides posey would you want? julian wright maybe
mo pete, rasual butler dont interest me at all
danny has shown the ability to take a player back he already let go before so i wouldnt count posey returning entirely out, but i would say its highly unlikely
id much rather pull the trigger on a s&t for outlaw

If New Orleans is really interested in doing a sign and trade for Big Baby then we could probably try and grab Tyson Chandler considering that they are still trying to get rid of him. We would probably have to add Scal to make it work salary wise. That would give us a solid front court bench with Sheed at PF and Chandler at C. Only thing is, I'm not sure how open Chandler is to coming off the bench though.

Posey's contract suucks, but they need someone who can bodycheck Bron, Kobe & Artest in the playoffs.. I won't mind if they sign Hill, but I'd rather have Posey for those last two rounds, which will be extremely physical for Pierce & Ray...

I'm pretty sure Danny told Sheed he'd have 25+ minutes per night or he wouldn't have signed. They aren't going to bring in someone the caliber of Chandler, unless they're looking to deal off Perkins...

Posey would be awesome, but his contract is large for a bench player.
Hmm, I'm not sure why you won't want Rasual Butler. He's a dangerous long-range shooter and a decent defender that the Celtics could use off the bench. He's 29 and nearing his prime. Plus, did anyone mention that he's ridiculously clutch?
EDIT: Since Butler has an expiring contract, Butler and a future 2nd-round pick for Davis sounds fair to me.

Crazy idea.....Childress? Are his rights still held by the Hawks? Would he fill the need of a 2/3 to spell PP and RA? Assuming we dont get Grant Hill

The Hawks still own the rights to Childress through 2010 (2 years).
Interesting idea. I haven't paid attention to Childress during his stay in Europe, but he's put up some decent numbers before leaving for Europe.

Butler's up for Posey type of money after next year, if not a longer deal, or they have to go into free agency again.

Im all in favor for sending Big Baby to Portlant for Outlaw (Fernandez would be better tho) .... especially if the Blazers truly are after Odom. But the Hornets, hmmm ... I dont know about Butler, his numbers were nice because he played in 30+ minutes last year ... the year before that he did not provide much off the bench for them ... But if Sheed is going to be playing 25mpg, then Baby has to go, because he fits nowhere in the equation, and its best to let him have a shot to play with another team.
This seems like a very good rotation:
Rondo / Backup
Allen / House
Pierce / Outlaw
KG / Wallace
Perkins / Wallace

I wouldn't mind seeing Mo Pete, Rasual Butler, or Julian Wright in green. I think they can all help us a lot. Mo Pete and Butler are both solid defenders that can shoot. Julian Wright can give us everything Posey did minus the shooting (although I hear that has improved as well) and he is young and constantly improving. If we can get a couple of those players, for Baby and garbage, sign me up.

I've been a long time supporter of getting Travis Outlaw. I love his game. However, I'd be down for a BBD S&T for Julian Wright as well. He's that long defender and really worked on his 3 pt. shot last year.

Wright has been a binkie of mine for a while now. He would be a great addition for us if we could get him. The whole thing is that his contract is nice for the Hornets right now, so it probably wouldn't happen.

Keep in mind Baby is going to be BYC so he is his full salary going out and only half coming back.
Antonio Daniels and Mo Pete would fit reasonably with team needs. That would likely take Baby at 5mil/Scal/TA/Giddens and Pruitt. Daniels is expring at about 6.6 mil and Mo has two years 13mil left. If Ainge was just looking to kind of clear out the bottom of the roster it would work.
Either one and Butler is a little easier with only Pruitt going and he can just be cut. Butler is pretty damn good and starts for them but they could start Posey or Wright.
I don't see Julian Wright being and option but Hilton Armstrong and Daniels would work. Of course Armstrong is getting out played by Sean Marks and if he was any good they wouldn't be after Baby.
It isn't excting but Daniels or Mo Pete and Butler does make a lot of sense for Boston.

Portland is targeting Millsap (per wiretap), which would surely put them out of the running for BBD.
but the real question is, why would the Blazers want to do a S&T at all?
They could just sign BBD outright, without giving up anything.

They also have moveable parts and they would still have to hope Boston doesn't match the offer. I don't really see why they would want him necessarily but all the same.
Just read something interesting on Suns board not very important and FWIW, but apparently the Hornets view Armstrong as their starting center and that Tyson Chandler is toast, can't play no more no more. Which actually jives with them trying to just give his ass away and nobody taking.
