vet min pg options?

I kind of think we need to find someone. First of all, If I was Ainge I'd put a lot of effort into getting Marbs back. Maybe sending the big three out to see him. Get a story on the wiretaps about it. Make him feel wanted. For the Vet Min of course.
But if not we have Hudson with a broken finger and I do't believe Gabe is in the long term plans. After his DUI danny said something ominous on the radio about how sometimes its something like that that ends a marginal players career.
If you look at our rotation of proven NBA talent:
Perk/Sheed
KG/ Scal maybe Baby
PP
RA/House
Rondo
we need a back up pg.

House needs to go. He's just a tradeable contract as far as I'm concerned. We have zero depth at the 1 through 3 spots and enough expirings to make something happen.

Ronnie Price, he is likely out in utah and won't command much more than the vets min, he would be perfect as far as im concerned

I like him. Has good size and is tough.
Just spotted that CJ Watson is a restricted free agent. Why not go and get him? The Warriors are jam packed with guards as it is. Maybe we could do a sign and trade deal with him in combination with other players. I think that the Warriors might be a good trade partner for us.

How about Carlos Aroyyo who is playing for Israel right now. I'm sure we could get him for the LLE.

i would take signing watson for cheap, but i wouldnt give up anyone for him alone
i really like some of the bellineli and azibuki of the warriors, i wonder if azibuki could adequately guard big three's, i have my doubts since he is only 6'5, but if he could he would be great for the celtics
is marcus williams from UCONN still a free agent?, i would give him a shot, he has some high potential

Eddie, who would have full Bird Rights if he plays one more season in Boston,
gets to approve any trades, in advance. If Eddie doesn't OK it, the trade can't happen.
Eddie gets a 7.5% trade kicker bonus if he is traded, though.
You vastly underestimate his value, as the only bench player who can be trusted to make a shot.
Eddie will be even more effective if Rasheed Wallace and Grant Hill come on board,
2 players who have inside and outside games, and who can both handle the ball as well.
Eddie's not going anywhere.

Well, if you believe reports, Ainge is after Tyrone Lue.

I also agree with the sentiment to not trade House unless there is someone with similar abilities replacing him. He's a great shooter and I sure don't want to see him end up on a rival contender next year.
Hemingway, you managed to use the words "proven NBA talent" and "Scal" in the same breath. Whoddha thunk it?

Now a story on wiretap that Marbury thinks he might have to play in Europe because the Celtics have withdrawn their offer to him. And I suppose the list of teams he made up as being interested in him have all now denied their interest. Cat is out of the bag, Marbury is there should he be needed. May as well shop around a bit to see if there is an upgrade to Marbury available, otherwise just sign him for minimum.

If we get Grant Hill we don't really need a backup pg. Hill can play point forward in the 2nd unit and House can play "pg", but really play off the ball because of Hill.

Assuming Hill can just fill the role of a vet backup PG at his age isnt really wise. When you start depending on a players fringe benefits like that you will wind up disappointed too often.
A true vet pg is safe and makes more sense on a team that is trying to contend.
Here are some conservative names with low price tags that are worth consideration:
Lindsey Hunter
Anthony Carter
Jason Hart
Tyrone Lue (celts persuing)
Bobby Jackson
Ronnie Price
Some of these guys may be calling it quits, have no interest in Boston, etc. But there is no question marks regarding their skill set which i like.

How do we even have money for a backup PG if we sign Hill?
Someone please explain.

i agree, i think Hill's point forward days are behind him.
I'm hoping Pruitt can take a step this year. But we still need a vet min pg.
Price is a good idea. So is Carter or Lue. The rest, I'm not sure. Hunter isn't a true PG. Hart was never very good. Jackson is too injured.

you can always sign players at the vet min.
but yeah, we don't have anything else to offer (unless Hill goes elsewhere)

Wasn't our offer to hill the Vet minimum?

If we sign Grant Hill, we really won't have any money to target a backup PG, unless they're willing to play for the vet. min. That puts more emphasis on resigning Marbury. We can offer him more money than the vet. min and still have the ability to sign Hill. I believe the only drawback to doing this would be more $ out of Wyc's pocket in luxury tax dollars.
I don't see how we can improve the PG spot over what Marbury could give us if we sign Hill. If anyone has any idea, please let me know. I suppose we could S&T Baby for a backup point, right?

We have money to pursue a veteran minimum contract. I'm not sure exactly how much it is but it is less than the LLE we would spend on Grant Hill.

Wouldn't the Vet min for Hill be the same if not more than the LLE?
I am not sure exactly how the formula works.

The LLE is about 1.9 mil.
The vet min is like 1.2 or 1.3 million, iirc.
So the LLE is worth more, which is why we're trying to use it on Hill.
And we can sign as many players as we want at the vet min. There's no limit.
