Win-Now Deal for Boston

Hey all, Nets/Mavericks fan here.

I'm trying to get feedback from all 3 fanbases for this proposal I made on the Trades and Transactions board:

Tweaked Blockbuster: BOS-DAL-MIA

Let's get one thing straight: we all know that Boston is a top-5 team in the NBA without this deal. No offense, though, but I think the Lakers are a cut above your team, and that's IF the Celtics can knock out the re-tooled Orlando and Cleveland. I think if Ainge were to execute THIS deal, it would vault you ahead of any competition, and all but ensure at least the next two championships.

Is the proposal fair for your team and the other teams? Why? If not, who gets too good or too bad of a deal?

If Boston could keep Rondo and pass on Terry, then yes. Allen and two picks for Wade (assuming we can resign him) sounds good.

Actually you can trade a 2010 pick after the 09 draft. You just can't trade consecutive FUTURE picks.

Seriously? Then what are we waiting for, let's dangle that baby like Michael Jackson.
2010 1st + our small expirings could snag us a good veteran on a longish contract.

Wiggles, I think we're holding onto the pick for now because some of our vets might not re-sign next year [right now any of our backup wing or PG].

I think we're holding onto the 2010 to hope for a decent player to fill a potential need for our bench next season. Or on draft night hopefully be able to trade it then with maybe one of Walker, Giddens, Pruitt for a reliable vet.

thanks for confirming that. i mentioned this in the linked thread.

but i'm not sure we just want to start trading away our picks like candy. picks are gold in Ainge's hands. remember we need to stockpile some young kids to package with our big expiring vets in a few years to bring in the next round of stars.

it's one thing to trade a pick to bring in KG. it's another to trade one for some vet role player, as good as they may be.

Why wait until next year's draft to get that reliable vet? Get him now. Win it now. Who cares about the role players who might not re-sign next summer. Who cares about next year's bench. Right now the 2010 1st has a minute chance of being decent, maybe some team figures we lose a star or two and we barely make the playoffs. On draft night next year that chance will go from like 2% to 0%, and it'll just be a pick in the 25-30 range, which are almost becoming less valuable than early 2nds these days.
