one left, maybe the pistons but the numbers say they don't have more then 3-4 million to spend on him.
orlando gets bass, SA gets dice, Blazers go for milsap.
odds of his return are going up.

He will be back. Nice to see ya posting Darth, good time to be a Cs fan. Can't remember last time I was so excited for the Cs in July since 07 obviously.

Re: baby out of options?
I feel similarly. But Baby is a minor prospect in a free agent market.
We will most likely be the only winning team that will offer him a contract. But I'm certain he'll still find a 4-esque mil contract for 3 or more years in this... the worst market ever.
That said, teh worst market ever works both way. No one wants to commit too much... but next year the prospects are going to be slimmer because of the potential decrease in the cap.
All that said, Baby will get an offer. But his best financial offer may be to stay with BOS for one year for the 1 mil qualifying offer. Get more playoff and championship experience, hold off on the big contract till next year in 2010 where there is likely to be an offer with a team lossing out on the franchise player free agents.
But I'm not sure if siging for the 1 year qualifying is an option for Baby if someone offers him a qualifier. I think the only way he stays with the Celtics if given an offer is if the Celtics match... it would make sense if he could turn down the offer but at the same time the Players Union may not make that a possibility.

It would be a slap in the face of Davis if he came back to this team for the qualifying offer. He will be back with this team for a 2 or 3 year deal for about 4 million a year. The only way he isn't back at this point is if he is used in a sign and trade for a 1 or 3 that fits better than he does at the 4 for this team.

Yes he won't sign that deal but he could. The market is 3.5-4 mil a year, Darius Songalia, Gomes, Delonte, Boobie Gibson. 4 for 16 5 for 20.
We have no idea what Davis' options are at this point. Restricted FA is always slow as teams focus on the guys that they don't have to wait on but the numbers are kind of there to see. If Utah loses Milsap then they may look to Davis.

I don't see him taking the 1 mil deal if ANYONE is offering more. You have to figure that the guy has yet to make a lot of money. In todays day and age, 1 million does not set you up for life. He's probably made a mil so far and if he only comes back for one more year at a million and gets hurt he is really screwed. He took a shorter rookie deal so he could get paid. The man is going to get a few mil next year one way or another I think.
