How Important is the #1 seed in the East Next Year

How Important is the #1 seed in the East Next Year? Considering how good Cleveland and Orlando will be, do you think you need the #1 seed in the East to win? Do you think you need HCA throughout the playoffs like in 2008 to win it all?

it will be a lot more important than 2008 thats forsure.
the #1 seed will be important placing for the playoffs not only for HCA but also in regards that the #1 seed will only have to face one of the other two powerhouses in the east. durability and freshness is always a key factor in title runs and having to face less tougher competition will be a bonus for the 1 seed. we need to get off to a good start like last year in the regular season and continue it for the full length of 82 games. with the 1 seed our chances will always be better of winning #18.

Nah--it will NEVER be more important than it was in 2008---the C's were new together--and they had to learn how to win on the road---they finally did, so they CAN win on the road in 2010...I think we put TOO much emphasis on it last year----enough so,that they put off KG's surgery--cause in my opinion-they were very worried of NOT having HCA---ended up costing us a chance at another title..!!!

I think we need to get the top seed in the East. Because we don't want to play Cleveland or Orlando before the Conference Finals. Let them kill each other on the other side of the brackets.

I just want us to be healthy and RESTED come playoff time. I don`t want to see PP averaging 40 minutes again...sure it would be nice to avoid CLE or ORL in the second round but we can beat them on the road too...

PP's minutes could be decreased and we'd still have a chance at getting the top spot. Look how many wins we got even with KG being injured. I'd much rather face a team like Atlanta in the 2nd round.

Vital when you consider that Cleveland almost matched the 85-86 Celtics' home record last season (and they essentially tanked that last home game).

yeah but they lost in the playoffs. it's a whole new season. regular season records don't mean that much.
i'd rather have a healthy and well-constructed team going into the playoffs if it means giving up a few games early in the season and ending up without HCA throughout.

It is not essential, but it would be VERY helpful. Imagine a road to the finals through only Orlando... then imagine a road to the finals through Orlando, and then Cleveland.

The top seed is nice. Other factors are more important going into the playoffs ... like health.

we would have been fine if KG was healthy last year, even without HCA. at least until the finals anyways. it would have been tough against LAL but i don't think HCA would have been the decider.

IMO, it's as important is it is every year, for any team, regardless of conference.

Rest is more important. Take a page from the Spurs. Duncan has averaged less than 35 minutes per game each of the last 5 years. Parker and Ginobli have never averaged more than 35. The Spurs treat the regular season like a tune-up for the post-season. That is what the celtics should be doing as well.

Well the Bulls in 1998 had MJ average 39 mpg with Pippen out half the year and then Pippen came back and averaged 38 mpg and Rodman 36 mpg.
