Semi-OT: Miami going berzerk

It seems Riley is trying to get both Odom and Boozer on his squad in an attempt to keep Wade. The reason I bring this up is it may affect their cap situation to the point where keeping Moon long-term may be difficult. We could maybe get them some expirings to keep some room in the Kitty for D-Wade next summer.

This is of course aside from the win-lose of weakening the Lakers while increasing the competition in the East..

Chalmers
Wade
Odom
Boozer
O'Neal

&

Beasley

That's pretty nasty.

i just cant picture Odom signing there. All they can offer is the mle right? What exactly are they reportedly offering for Boozer?

Haslem and Dorell Wright. Utah needs to move Booze ASAP to match Milsap..

i think its a win/win if mia deals haslem for boozer. they get a very solid player and in return utah gets an expiring that they can renew or deal for another player at a later time. in regards to odom, he could go the mia route and sign to a one year contract or multiple years with a player option(allowing him to test the FA pool next summer).

Miami's offering 5 years and $34 million and LA's offering 4 & 36.. Gotta keep in mind that LO won't be paying an 11% state income tax rate on income over $1 million in Florida...

LA's offer is already better. If LO even makes like the MLE in the 5th year, that's another 6 mil. So effectively LA's offer means he makes 42 mil over the next 5 years, while MIA's he makes 34 mil. not to mention he has to relocate, and he actually likes being in LA, plus Ariza is gone.

i just don't see any way Miami can land Odom. Boozer, OTOH, is a good possibility.

Odom will sign a 5 year deal in Miami. 9 in LA is equal to 8 in Miami so if he can get the 5th year then the money is in the same ball park. He is an East Coast guy and he can start in Miami.

My guess is that Wade has to re-sign to make these moves happen. Love him or hate him nobody is better at switching up on the fly than Riley.

Well, there's a rumor going around that Lamar just accepted a 4 year/$36 million deal from the Lakers.

Check the Laker board.

Yeah to this point the offer was 3 years 27 mil.

I have to say I want to negotiate against Kupcake someday. So he pulls his 3 year offer from the table, Pat Riley calls Odom, and the Lakers give Odom a 4th year? I wonder if a call from Ainge can get him a 5th?

If you want to win with wade, you don't surround him with guys that need the ball in their hands to contribute.

You need to give him a big man thats decently athletic and can finish around the rim, a shooter, and an athlete that can defend the crap out of people so wade doesn't have to.

the lineup miami is trying to build with odom, chalmers, beasley, and jermaine..... doesn't do that AT ALL.

Odom is a great compliment to Wade, Chalmers can knock down the 3, Boozer is a classic offensive big man. JO is toast he doesn't really play into the equation. The real issue is Beasley can he be the SF on this team. I really like them offensively but they probably aren't good enough defensively, especially Boozer at the 5.

I would imagine they stick it out with JO at the 5 one more year, and start Lamar at the 3, Lamar and Wade guarding wings is not bad at all, very versatile. Beasley would come off the bench playing all the forward minutes. Then next offseason JO's contract is gone and they can look for another player at C.

I don't think Wade is going to sign with Miami. He is going to let his contract expire and become a free agent after this year. He is going to come to Boston after that. Atleast that is what I'm hoping for and what we are in position for.

See Odom is a good defender at the PF spot and Boozer is better at the 5 than the 4 though he is pretty awful anywhere all in all. O'Neal doesn't like playing center but he can defend either spot. Beasley just has so much more to offer them at this point than O'Neal it would be such a waste to bring him off the bench.
Chalmers - PG
Wade - SG
Beasley - SF
Odom - PF
Boozer - C
is one of the better offensive line ups you can put together. If they use O'Neal off the bench it will also likely give them a chance of keeping him on his feet for the season.

Yeah that isn't going to happen, at least not like that. All of these guys are signing extensions or it will cost them about 50 mil bucks on their next contract. A max contract is built off of a percentage of the cap if it contracts by 5% so does their starting salary, they will be signing extensions, and if they need to force a trade later they can deal with that then.
