BLOCKBUSTER Trade Proposal

Hey all, Nets/Mavericks fan here (just so you know I'm not biased about this trade!).
Today's big NBA rumor (Chris Paul says "it's possible" that he gets traded so that the New Orleans can save money) has spawned a ton of ideas on the Trades and Transactions board. I was wondering what you thought of this one:
Boston Gets CP3 - OH!I know surrendering two future 1sts kind of mortgages your future, but honestly, those late, LATE 1sts wouldn't make or break your franchise anyway. Would you consider this deal? Why or why not?
BTW, please respond in the linked thread, NOT this one. Thanks.

54 views and not one response? Do you guys coordinate your responses on a separate board, and unleash them all at once you've determined a consensus?

Umm... I don't like it. The new lineup is not as good defensively. And we all know defense wins championships.

I wouldn't consider this trade for a mili second. Absolutely garbage.
So, we trade 3 starters for 1 starter and 1 bench player?
Perkins is better than Chandler. End of story.
Rondo and Ray's value absolutely outweighs what CP3 would bring by himself.
BTW, did I miss something or did we not win a championship w/Rondo, Ray and Perk in the starting line up?
As far as you saying this would "vault" us past the Lakers, we are better than the Lakers currently as is. In case you've been under a rock, the Lakers might be losing Lamar Odom. Sure they brought in Artest, but would you trade Odom/Ariza for Artest? I think not.
Once we formally sign Daniels, the Celtics will be contesting every team defensive record that has been previously set. How can a team possibly be deeper than this:
Rondo/House/Pruitt
Allen/Daniels/House/TA/Giddens
Pierce/Daniels/Walker
Garnett/Sheed/(BBD?)
Perkins/Sheed
Smells like # 18 to me. Not too mention, let's say we trade Scal for Daniels, meaning will still have the Bi Annual of 1.9M$ to go get another PG. Or if we don't trade Scal for him and use the 1.9$ on Daniels, then we'd still have Scal or a S & T using BBD to get a PG.
The Celtics are going to be an absolute monster this season. Not only am I smelling # 18, how does 70 win sound?

I don't get trade proposals .... unless you have direct access to Danny, why post it? Nothing will eventuate from it.

As opposed to the other trades posed on here that do have something eventuate from it?
On the other hand I didn't know eventuate was a word (but it is!)

I do this in a heartbeat.
When you receive far and away the best player in the trade, it's worth doing, almost no matter what, unless maybe the best player is an axe murderer child-molesting rapist (ie kobe... j/k).
I love Rondo and Ray but the step up from Rondo to CP3 outweighs the dropoff from Ray to whoever we could find. Perk is better than Chandler but not by such a large margin -- Chandler might do well under Clifford Ray, and he's a good defender too.
Moreover we are set for the long-term with CP3 at the PG that is someone to build around. Right now we have nobody past the big 3. rondo is not a guy who is going to carry a team if the defense focuses on him.

I might drop one of the #1s or remove the Perk/Chandler...but honestly that's a pretty good proposal. 'Decent value for Paul...and the Celtics would contend now and have no worries about the post Big 3 Celtics. I guess a 2 would have to be found somehow. But it's Chris Paul, he should have been the mvp in 07-08...You have a new big 3 where KG and Pierce are your 2nd and 3rd best players, it would be incredible.

You do that trade as a Celts fan EXCEPT for the fact that counting on a full season of PPierce at SG is probably not a good idea. Plus you did not include BBD on our bench in the post-trade lineups, and seeing Pruitt as the backup PG made me throw up in my mouth a lil.
If we had a reliable SG to take Ray's spot then this trade is gravy.

The Perk-Chandler exchange is pretty much a deal-breaker for NOH fans, but dropping one of the 1sts shouldn't be a problem.

Why wouldn't Paul Pierce work as a full-time SG? In any case, Marquis Daniels and a healthy Tony Allen should be able to fill plenty of SG minutes, allowing Pierce to slide over to SF often.
BBD (I assume you're referring to Glen "Big Baby" Davis) is a restricted free agent. He would be in your depth chart, but he has not re-signed with the Celtics, yet. Also, if you want to consider House the backup PG, that's fine. Don't get preoccupied with the depth chart, though.
